After Brazil won the Jules Rimet trophy for the third time it was retired into their hands...so...will this one be retired to Argentina?

Haven’t Germany won it 3 times already?

Yes - 1974, 1990 and 2014.

But they were West Germany for two of those, so maybe it doesn't count.

The three wins rule was explicit for the Jules Rimet Trophy but not for the current one.

1990 was their third win as West Germany.

Yes, but only their second with the current trophy.

In 1954 they won the Jules Rimet trophy.

We had an almost exact copy made many years ago of the jukes rimet. I think it was used briefly when the original was stolen a couple of times.

Again, only one of those were with the current trophy, which Italy have won twice (1982 and 2006).

Also British teams refused to compete in the first three World Cups because the FA didn't like FIFA back then, and the FA also didn't want to join in a competition that included teams from nations we had been fighting in World War One, so not quite a full deck of cards in 1930, 1934 and 1938...

Goodness knows what monstrosity FIFA would have designed for the next trophy - I like this one, it's iconic and...small.
