I make Mark Ashton's signing success factor 22 to 11... 23:44 - Jan 9 with 2516 views | unstableblue | ... 22 good signings ... 11 not so good (I'm being harsh) .. and now 3 new ones to see how they get on!? I think a 2-1 ratio is good. With some stand out signings in there.

I make Mark Ashton's signing success factor 22 to 11... on 07:34 - Jan 10 with 2016 views | southnorfolkblue | Does Ashton have any say in who we buy? I’d assumed (may be wrongly) that he just ties up the deals and that KM identifies the players he wants.

As someone working for EADT as long as he has, Fuller should well know that with the images he can't just put "images courtesy of". [Post edited 10 Jan 2023 8:10]

The manager doesn't have allot to do, he identifies the positions he needs players for. Ashton and team find players that fit the ask. KM then says who he wants from their research and Ashton and crew negotiate deals. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't believe KM has nothing to do with identifying players.

That depends whom you ask. If you were to ask Bristol City fans, Ashton runs the entire club, even picking the match day squad and choosing what they eat

Which is really the point of having a recruitment team. Allows the Manager to get on with his main job of running the team. With modern levels of analysis, it would be too time-consuming to work otherwise. Or it would be a matter of devolving to hiring their old mates.

By all accounts McKenna still watches a ridiculous amount of football outside of Town's opponents. I'm sure there's dialogue between him and the recruitment team, Gary Probert ,Mark Ashton where he asks them to look in more depth at players he's seen in a game who he thinks might fit.
