Currently dozens of satellites going over my house in IP23. Some in a straight line, others more randomly.
Would these be the same ones I saw a year or so ago all in a continuous line and if so, why now the staggering.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

They will be starlink, recently launched, hence the line.

After a while they will raise into a higher orbit, and separate.

Thank you.
Rather an impressive sight on a clear evening.

Miss Slave observed a continuous line of them about a week ago which carried on for about 5 minutes. Dozens of the fekkers.

They launch in batches of up to 60 at a time.

Thought for a moment we might have an alien invasion in Suffolk.

It could turn out to be a real problem from astronomers. Starlink is going to be 12,000 satellites and other networks of around equal size are planned to go up.

SpaceX have at least tried (after some complaints) to try and make them less reflective but there is a real chance that unchecked these satellite clouds could adversely affect ground based astronomy.

There are obviously upsides as well, such as providing internet access where no infrastructure exists or where war has taken it out such as Ukraine.

Here is an example of why it's a problem, although it's only one image so I can easily discard it. The bright thing in the centre is the core of Andromeda.
