The centre back conundrum 19:05 - Feb 4 with 1340 views | pointofblue | In all honesty, I think our biggest issue at the back is a lack of retention and protection from miidfield, but what is our best centre back partnership? Part of me is tempted to switch to a back three of Donaicen, Woolfenden and Edmundson which worked quite well at the start of the season. I think we've looked shaky for the most part with a back four. The back three also moves Burns back and Davis forward, which results in four across the middle of midfield which, in turn, can help with retention.

The centre back conundrum on 19:23 - Feb 4 with 1240 views | Garv | I'm sure it's not the sole reason for our leakiness but I'm struggling with the Keogh inclusion and therefore Woolfenden exclusion. I imagine McKenna is managing it delicately and the players know the score, but what must he be thinking? I'd have Edmundson in there most weeks.

I think it's because of the age of the backline without Donacien, Keogh or Burgess in there. I looked before kick off and I think Clarke is 21, Woolfenden 24, Edmundson 25 and Davis 23. That's probably too youthful as a collective so Keogh is there to provide experience.

I know that Mr Lambert insisted that J.D. was a centre half, but actually he has, over the course of the season, been less responsible for significant errors than either Edmundson or Wolfenden. Now that we've missed an opportunity in the window to up our game at the back, although it won't happen, I'd like to see us try a back three of Clarke, Donacien and Burgess.

How many serious errors has Woolfenden made, Oxford aside? Plus you want to play Burgess who, at the end of his run of games, was making at least one error a match, most of which ending up in goals.

The centre back conundrum on 20:23 - Feb 4 with 1045 views | FrimleyBlue | Genuine question. When was the last time we played Edmundson as a RCB? I'd love to see him on what i feel would be his natural position. Comfortable with the knowledge that 90% of balls will on his stronger foot and he can push forward on that side and maybe work with clarke. Burns in the process.

Probably under Cook during the time he tried to sell Woolfenden. Who would you play on the left if Edmundson switched to the right? Burgess?

You'd have to really. I would have loved to have seen one come in. But with what we have then yeah Burgess.

And Woolfenden's error at Oxford should have been cleared up by. first, Donacien and then, Burgess. Today we looked suspect in central defence, and I don't think that has been the case in games this season when Woolfenden has played.

Who's first reserve if Edmundson gets injured/suspended/lose form? Woolfenden or Keogh? We really needed to bring in a left sided centre back in January.

Didn't the manager say he decided to go with the same team that did well against Morecambe .
The centre back conundrum on 21:08 - Feb 4 with 912 views | Swansea_Blue | Our best CB partnership has Woolf in, end of. I’d be happy enough to see those 3 of JD, Woolf and Edmundson. Burgess is interchangeable too. I don’t see a problem with any of them individually other than sometimes they need to be more assertive/aggressive and make sure nobody else is getting to that ball (thinking of set pieces especially). Age isn’t an issue for me. All are top level for this league and need to play.
