Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday line ups... what to do? 20:50 - Feb 4 with 1882 views | pointofblue | I think we need to return to a back three. Not necessarily against Burnley but for the Sheffield Wednesday match. The back four seems to leave us vulnerable at the back and weak in midfield. So, for Burnley - Hladky Vincent-Young - Keogh - Burgess - Leigh Evans - Humphreys Jackson - Harness - Edwards Hirst Substitutes: Coleman, Donacien, Woolfenden, Morsy, Luongo, Burns, Aluko, Broadhead, Ladapo Luonogo for Evans if the latter is unavailable. For Sheffield Wednesday - Walton Donacien - Woolfenden - Edmundson Clarke - Morsy - Luongo - Davis Chaplin - Ladapo - Broadhead Substitutes: Hladky, Burgess, Evans, Edwards, Aluko, Jackson, Hirst

Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday line ups... what to do? on 20:58 - Feb 4 with 1831 views | Swansea_Blue | I like a back 3. It plays to Leif’s, Wes’ and Donacien’s strengths imo. And at the top end of the pitch it’s better for our forwards, who all do better centrally except Jackson. But for some reason it’s out of fashion. Lots of teams are moving away from it. I don’t know why - maybe some tactical smart arse knows if it’s been worked out as a formation?

Have to admit, I was really divided whether to have Clarke or Burns at right wing back for the Wednesday game. Maybe Burns is the better bet, as he's played there for us before, with Clarke on the bench. I have seen teams drift to a back four of late. Surely if the back three has been worked out, the back four has too?

We had some of our best performances and results with a 3, but we appear to have simply abandoned it for the majority of the season. It suits our CBs, it suits Burns and Davis and gives solidity in the middle of midfield too.

JD /Burns combo should be reinstated. We need familiarity vs Sheff Wed

I don't really care; let them shred us. Protect the first teamers for the Sheffield Wednesday game.

Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday line ups... what to do? on 08:39 - Feb 5 with 1261 views | McCall | We need a positive cup performance in order to go into the Wednesday game with any sort of confidence so I would go strong against Burnley. Wednesday have a midweek reply too so we're both in the same boat. Not a fan of Hirst, seems slow and clumsy, not sure he's got a goal in him, need pace up top.

I wouldn't say he looks slow, he does the hold up play less well to Ladapo but looks more likely to make a run that leads to a goal Time will tell if he can do the business, still early days. I'd agree he looks a bit raw though.

We played well against Morecambe, plenty of positives. We then made 8 changes for the Cup game and again played well, could have win it. For Cambridge we went back to the same 11 as started against Morecambe and the first half bore no resemblance to the performance against Morecambe. We don’t seem capable of carrying a good performance forward from one game to another, not with the same starting eleven. In reality it isn’t games against the better teams that give cause for concern but games against the likes of Cambridge and we have games against similar teams coming up.

We barely have any momentum. We’re stuttering. We haven’t won back to back games since October. Due to pitiful results against teams costing a pittance compared to ours we’re now in a position where Sheffield Wednesday is a must win. Our back up players are either seemingly not trusted to do the business in the league or are not showing any sign of (consistent) form. We cannot afford to burn our players out midweek considering the position we find ourselves in; we need to be fully fresh for next week’s game.

We have a squad size which can cope with this, I wouldn't be against resting Morsy for example though What's worrying is we haven't integrated Hirst or Broadhead particularly well yet, we really need to be getting more out of these two
