Left sided centre half 23:03 - Feb 7 with 1277 viewsWoolfenthen

would love to see Greg Leigh tried here, (he has played at centre half before in his career) I'm sure he would offer more going forward than Burgess or Edmundson and he can certainly defend, feel this would give us some lovely balance to the side also, so what's not to like!

Would definitely be worth looking at perhaps in games where we are dominating the ball

Neither him or Donacien are particularly tall although both have decent leaps

You might get away with it if we had another big central midfielder such as Ball maybe?

I thought this earlier in the season, he'd be far more comfortable on that side with the ball than GE and better going forward than Burgess.

I'd probably want Clarke over JD if we did try this to give us a bit more strength in the air. That wouldn't really be that different than playing two CBs.

Nice idea in theory but in reality I imagine it would be a massive change in role and something he'd have to learn.

Can definitely see your thinking there.. Just wonder if wed lose a bit of height for defending set pieces?..Thought we looked quite small, when we walked out on Saturday alongside Cambridge team.
But yeah. You could see Leigh getting up the pitch like JD does on the right.

One of our weaknesses in comparison to Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday is size and physicality

Perhaps we need a little bit more of that as time goes on

The last thing we need is 'more going forward'. We'll only have Walton in our own half soon. One of our problems is being far too open to a counter attac

Martinez of Man United has been a good recent example of not having to be a giant to be a centre back.

We often do only have Walton in our own half - and he's often as close to the centre spot as the goal. Going forward is why Town have scored so many goals and won so many matches. Stop that and we're back to the latter part of last season, when we only conceded a few, but rarely scored enough to win.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
