Don't think anyone should be any illusions that the French police and government ministers did anything other than try and avoid responsibility, primarily by spreading lies to try and blame innocent fans. (Straight out of the SYP playbook)

It is endemic in this country. Whenever lives have been lost and establishment errors have been made, any investigation which may shine the spotlight on those at fault takes so much time and has no bite at all. No doubt any inquiry into the handling of Covid will come up with 'recommendations' but fall way short of pointing the finger at Johnson and his shower of $h!t in the way their actions (in the initial stages at least) made a terrible situation so much worse. |  |
