IF if if we went into the play offs… 12:18 - Apr 20 with 980 viewsMatt_Netherlands

I just hope we go in with the mindset of “we’ve been the third best team in this division all season” rather than a mindset of “we’ve just thrown away the top 2.”

I feel like when we were in them in 2015, we slightly had the latter mindset after scraping into them somewhat after a great season.

Not writing off going up automatically, but mindset (from everyone) would be crucial in that scenario!

If we play well and don't get beaten at Peterborough and Barnsley but miss out I think most people will be quite positive of our chances. I add the caveat that this would be after a few days of massive tantrums on here!

Thinking about the playoffs, not many teams have beaten us so I'm confident over the 2 legs we will come out on top. Obviously the final is just a one-off game but again, not many teams have beaten us.

I would still be confident in the playoff providing we don't lose the next 4 games and/or get a load of injuries.

We are in a weird situation here. If we beat Posh and/or Barnsley, we will probably go up automatically but if we lose to one or both, that will increase our chances of being in the playoffs and knock our confidence of being able to beat either or both of them in the playoff semi and final.

Bolton have the recent experience of playing and winning well at Wembley so they would be my favourites for a playoff win if they can secure a top 6 place.

I really really hope we can do the biz in the next four matches.

It’s one game at a time folks, block out all the distracting conflicting noises and focus on us having a great game and beating Peterborough. All other things can wait. And we can take them one by one also.

I personally think Town will win the last 4 games and go up automatically, which is something Ive not doubtedall season. However if it was the play offs I'm confident we'll steam roller them. There is no evidence to suggest they wont.

Yeah if we have to go through the playoffs I’d much rather play Bolton instead of Peterborough. We’d be entering the playoffs on a downer and Peterborough are capable of blitzing teams whereas Bolton games are very low margin so if there was any hangover from missing automatics, it probably wouldn’t be as costly.

Barnsley are in the Peterborough mould but if we played them it wouldn’t be in the semifinal anyway.
