Bodes well IF we get promoted 15:12 - Apr 23 with 1126 viewsringwoodblue

Sunderland are now in a playoff place after their win away at West Brom today which means that if we can get out of this league, make a few quality additions in the summer, we could be challenging for promotion in the Championship next season.

I know, one game at a time, we’re not promoted yet, don’t get carried away but I can’t help it!

I bet Alex Neil is really happy with the decision he made earlier this season.

Below the top 2 and Boro since the arrival of Carrick, the standard of the Championship this season has been very mediocre imho. Blackburn have lost more than 1 in every 3 games and are in contention for top 6.

It’s a very middle of the pack kind of league usually with at least one stand out. How long did it take Sheffield UTD to get up after they got promoted? I’m pretty sure teams like Millwall finished 7th in their first season up with (I could be wrong here) fairly minimal investment.

By all accounts that was due to the contract he was given rather than the players at his disposal. Even at the time it seemed unlikely that Stoke was anything more than a sideways move based on the squads at each club.

It's an even lower standard than that post-covid. I'm still not convinced we'll be top six if we go up but we'll definitely be able to compete with a couple of good signings.

Helps that Sunderland have got Mogga in charge who knows what it takes to win the Play-Offs...
