I’ve met him a couple of times and know a few people who know him very well. He is an absolute diamond of a man, like so many Aussie sportsmen he has no ego to speak of and just wants to enjoy his life and get to know people.

This may all be true, and he is very well respected as a human being by many.

BUT

Met him, McGrath, Gilchrist, M Hussey and Bracken at Sydney Airport as they were on the same flight as us to Melbourne in 2006-7. A lot of them are probably decent guys, Ponting certainly seems that way, Mark Taylor or Tubbs on commentary again seems a decent bloke.. the Aussies love their cricket and are bloody good at it... They all try and win for their team and nation in the heat of battle... But respect is often the key in any ashes series, at the end of the game..

I have to say, the one thing missing is the late, great Shane WARNE!! still can't believe it, watching the ashes without him is just not the same
