Interesting when speaking to the ticket office yesterday was that they DO count season ticket holders even if not attending

So yesterday is pretty much capacity I’d say 29,600

We need a bigger boat!!

And to confirm how crazy demand is at present the ticket office also stated that when tickets were being returned - then as soon a they pressed return (i.e. appearing on ticket site) they’d immediately go into someone’s basket!

We’re massive

Poll: What level of support are you bringing to Portman Road today?

From what I can see in records back to 2001/2, that was the 6th biggest attendance, i.e. since the stadium went all seater following the Taylor report which must have been 1990/91.
Our record average home attendance is 26,431 in 76/77. I think we could see that broken this season.

The stadium is slightly smaller now than it was between 02/03 and 21/22 as well, as the corner seating has been lost between Cobbold and SAR. As a club, we have seemingly outgrown Portman Road.

They need to make it possible for season ticket holders who aren't going to be able to attend to sell their ticket back to the club for onward sale. Whether that's for cold hard cash or TeamCard points I wouldn't be that bothered. At the minute there's no real incentive to make sure you seat gets used.

If you can find someone who wants to buy your seat for the day, which frankly is a doddle on social media, you can ask the ticket office to send a pdf day ticket to the person, I think they might need to have an ITFC membership number. S you don't even need to physically hand over the s/t.

Yes - I've done that for friends and family without charging and the ticket office are quick to help.

Just think with the development of the app etc it would be really simple to do it 'officially' and almost with the click of a button. While I'm sure most of those selling on social media are honest people it does encourage scams, particularly when there's hype for tickets.

We went all-seater for the 1992-93 season.

A variation on this might be to have a dedicated charity and state that the money raised goes to that. Give the seller the option of requesting that's where the money goes. Once every couple of months the club publicises how much it has collected for the good cause. People would feel good about returning their tickets.

It could be the money goes to the club's existing 'good works' in the community, though personally I think the publicity (and therefore the uptake) would be bigger if the club was seen handing over a nice fat cheque every now and then to, say, the NSPCC or an air ambulance.
