I bloody hate international breaks 08:05 - Oct 13 with 1672 viewsDubtractor

Don't care about any of the international matches, albeit pleased for our players who are getting recognition from their countries.

It's an unwelcome break just as we've built up some serious momentum.

Makes this part of the season really stop start.

Could really do with an ITFC shaped distraction this weekend

Roll on next Friday for the glamorous trip to Rotherham.

Over the last few years, I have begun to like them, think it is because there is no ITFC stress!

They are painful. Especially friendlies. Love the big tournaments but these mid season international breaks do nothing for me at all.

Truly impaired.

Nah, just going to watch on the box with a few mates.

You?

I'm actually fairly content with the international breaks, feels like we needed a bit of a rest after a gruelling month of Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday fixtures. Momentum is great but it won't be halted by a weekend off and it felt to me like the players were starting to feel the pace a bit in the second half against Preston. This gives us some time to rest and get some more coaching into the players ahead of the next run of fixtures.

Good excuse to check in with Junior and take in a match. Wobbled when it went to a Friday but heck, a day off work too.

They're annoying as a fan, but for our benefit I'm OK with them. You feel for the first time in years since KM came in that the coaching and tactical side is actually an area we have a net gain in rather than net loss vs. opposition, so having the extra time isn't such a bad thing. I remember the days of calling games off because of call ups, only to come back looking like a team of strangers. These little 5 or 6 game 'check points' have been pretty good so far, hopefully we can pick up a big haul before the next one. This one is quite well timed with the Rugby world cup 1/4s as well, so as a fan of that I've got my sport fix coming up tomorrow and Sunday.

I quite like having the occasional break from ITFC stuff, personally.

Totally agree. It just puts more pressure on as if a player gets injured playing Internation football it makes it worse than an injury whilst playing for your own team and because a majority of the players selected for International teams are the best players to get one injured may impact their team for weeks or months. I do believe many managers feign players injuries so they can pull them out of these games.

These breaks are so important for the team at the moment due to the intensity levels of our press game. Appreciate we have a few away on duty but for Hirst, Chaplin, Davis, Williams etc gives a great chance to rest before the next block of games.
