If they'd built it, you wouldn't have the bridge, and there's no way a bridge would be built thesedays so you'd be no better off, except highways east would have less chance to screw things up on the route.
Regardless building the bypass now, doesnt fix the problem, it just delays you making the real hard choice that ultimately will come back to bite.
Don't believe me, see how well the Norwich North distributor road (NDR) has gone, opened 2018, already their city is even more congested with traffic, so they claim they've got to build a western link road to solve the congestion the NDR created, and guess what building that western link road won't solve the problem either.
Then what build a motorway? Build two ? Build something like the i405 in Los Angeles, 14 lanes of you guessed it vehicles still stuck in traffic. |  | | |
