Perspective 22:12 - May 27 with 1421 views | woodbridge_blue | We have all had a traumatic week waiting for news of KMc's future. Delighted to read Phil's report this afternoon and we all breath a sigh of relief. Half an hour later I received a phone call from one of my best mates.....except it wasn't him, it was his wife, telling me that Perry had suffered a massive cardiac arrest earlier today and passed away in hospital this afternoon. Really good bloke, apart from being a West Ham fan, and he was genuinely delighted when we achieved promotion. Both making plans to try to get to both games next season , we used to meet up once a month to do the rounds of the Woodbridge pubs and discuss everything sports related and more. In a two minute phone call it's all over. Just enjoy as much of life as you can, cherish your friendships and don't let things get to you too much. That's pretty much what Perry would say if I was having a beer with him tonight.

But you are so right. 17 days ago my wife was singing chants and eagerly watching playoffs from the safety of automatic promotion. 16 days ago she was struggling to speak and could hardly recognise me. She was blue lighted in with suspected meningitis. Mercifully it wasn't; it was a weird condition called SIADH. Thanks to magnificent NHS skill, care and support she is articulate and gettng stronger every day. Today, still in hospital, her recovery has been massively boosted with the good news about McKenna. Her lovely smile is back. But yes, perspective is the word.

Wishing you and your wife all the best for a full recovery. Glad to hear it seems to be heading in the right direction and hope that continues at speed.

Perspective on 09:22 - May 28 with 1057 views | Swansea_Blue | Sorry for your loss. That’s something I’ve thought about this week. It’s made me wonder how some people are able to navigate life’s ups and downs. Maybe some people have never had to deal with the loss of a friend or loved one, or a health scare, money problems, being a victim of crime, etc. Or maybe they can’t deal with things and this is just another example and we shouldn’t be judgemental. Dunno. Anyway, sorry for your loss again and thanks for posting. It certainly does put things in perspective.

Perspective on 09:36 - May 28 with 1030 views | Churchman | I wholeheartedly agree with your last two paragraphs. There is nothing wrong with investing in your football team, any sport or anything else but perspective / balance is so important. Personally, having had a less than easy six months (as many on this board knows), ITFC has proved a brilliant distraction/release/interest. Passion, sadness, rage, joy, frustration, interest, inclusion, excitement. Sport has the power to do that. The trick is to place it correctly, just as the trick of life is to get one’s priorities right; to value your family, friends and the moment. Life is finite. Nothing, including loss, can ever take away your friendship with your chum West Ham Perry. RIP.
