There haven't been many comments posted about Lewis. He didn't have a glamorous role. Obviously Sammy was and remains our first choice center/defensive midfielder and rightly so, but with Sammy treading the yellow card tightrope he was gonna miss games, also Mass was needing to manage his minutes. There were many games where we really needed a
strong and dependable championship quality DM. Hats off to Mark Ashton and the recruitment team because in those cold winter months we needed a tough midfielder to shore us up, and Lewis was a superb acquisition that did exactly what it said on the tin, helped us maintain our structure and aggression. Yet another tremendous squad player, without whom we may not have made it to where we are now. Many thanks Lewis.

I posted the other day that I think he would be a solid addition to our squad. Wouldn't cost an awful lot and i think he is good enough.

I'm gonna be honest. Apart from his debut. I can't say I really noticed him much in his appearences. Perhaps he was like a skuse where you didn't really notice what he did but it would be appreciated by those around him.

a niche perspective

Agree with this. He has the leadership qualities that are similar to Morsy and I think he could make a good addition to take over from Morsy (not yet) and offer some experience in the dressing room

When you break the season down, every one of those fringe players earned us that extra point or two, that dragged us over the line, it really was a massive team/squad effort.

It's got to be a possibility. Is he a starter in the Prem? You'd have to say probably not. But who knows who we will sign, not everyone can be a starter in the PL. We will need players who are willing to bide their time, sit on the bench for a few games and get a few minutes here and there, then maybe fill in if a first choice player is unavailable for a few games. Lewis is really decent as a Championship player, so you'd have to think he could do a job as a squad player in the Prem. He seemed to love his time here as well, and being part of a happy dressing room is again part of that team spirit and togetherness that we need.

The sort of player that would be perfect when it comes to Carabao and FA cup ties.

Mabe if we get to the last couple of days of the window and need some stocking fillers otherwise it's a No for me.

Certainly a good signing at the time and potentially a useful addition now...if he is happy with a PL squad role. Travis gave us the back up needed in case Morsy was injured or suspended.

LIke many of the current players, with a bit of time with KM and the coaching team Travis would improve further. He has the right mentality and competitive spirit to play a part in a competitive PL squad.

A decent player, but I think one who came in to do a job given his (then) manager at Blackburn fell out with him. I’d happily have him as a squad player - but the likely hood is - he’s a captain / 90 minute a week player for a championship team. A born leader - who wouldn’t likely be keen to come to us for a game in the cups and 5 minutes ‘here and there’. Strikes me as a player who is more interested in playing and leading rather than being a squad player.

Good luck to him - valuable asset when needed - but he won’t want to be a bit pet player with what he can offer.

He could be our version of Massimo for multiple teams. When we picked Mas up from obscurity to date.

Agree with this.

Right player at wrong time.

Our, frankly, unexpected rapid rise to the PL means players we would normally be gagging for may no longer be suitable.

I think he’s a good player and would like him in the squad if he was content with being on the bench for majority of time.

On the other hand, it is likely that we could easily give him a 50% pay rise, which might turn his head.

And, if the worst were to happen and we were relegated, he would be well embedded to play the CDM role in a promotion chasing Championship side.

Personally, I don't think so. I think he fulfilled his role when needed, mainly as a stopper or disruptor, but he appeared limited with the ball. That said, he seemed like a good character and surely contributed significantly in training and in the dressing room. I'm glad he got to share in the successes of last season with us and I wish him all the best for the future.
