Potential lineup 19:23 - Jul 12 with 2180 views_clive_baker_

?
Johnson Woolfy Greaves Davis
? Morsy
Burns Hutchinson ?
Delap

Hirst, Broadhead, Chaplin, Taylor, Luongo, Clarke, Burgess, Tuanzebe, Walton.

Pretty nuts when you look at our likely bench options that the majority would’ve been deemed MVP’s not so long back.

Feel like any central midfield addition to partner Morsy is going to be a key signing.

Do we really think Delap or Hirst will be our starting #9?

I have to say, I was hoping for someone with a bit more top-flight experience and guile.

I don’t think we’ll spend £15m on Delap for him not to be starting most games. Although he might be used on the right, with Burns dropping out.

Still think we’ll see another #9 come in though to give depth.

Hmm, the thought of how inexperienced our PL front line would be in that scenario does leave me somewhat nervous. Imagine if Hirst and Delap go 5-6 games without scoring, the pressure on them will be immense.

Maybe Szmodics is the budget version for the Philogene position, with Delap wide right, leaving us more in the budget for another #9?

The potential need for PL experience is trumped by the man in the dugout.

We'll be fine.

If Woolfy gets in the side ahead of Burgess I would be shocked , burgess is a much better defender who makes less gaffes

I feel a bit nervous looking at that. There’s absolutely no reason to doubt KM of course, but it’s a huge step up. We’ll be playing some of the best players in the world next year. A little bit of proven PL quality would settle my nerves, but maybe we can’t afford that.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Not sure we’ll have 2 left sided centre backs though and Greaves is starting

I think you'll be shocked.

It's Greaves instead of Burgess anyway really.

I predict Woolfy will thrive in the Premier League

With our current players

Walton
Johnson Woolfenden Burgess Davis
Morsy Greaves
Burns Chaplin Hutchinson
Hirst

Greaves is going to do for us what John Stones does at Man City - you heard it here first

As John Stones does at Man City?
You really think Greaves is going to sit on the bench for half the season

With the exception of Johnson we seem to be assembling a British EFL All-Stars team, but in KM we trust.

I honestly think that Hirst starts as our Number 9 against Liverpool. Perhaps I'm getting a bit carried away with all the excitement over the last couple of seasons, but I really believe that Hirst could surprise a few people this year. He's over 6ft so a decent size, runs the channels well, and doesn't mind mixing it with CBs. His goals-to-games ratio in the Champ this year wasnt bad either. We've always looked a far better side when he's played.

Highly rated as a youngster and has mixed it with many of these Premier League players in the England setups. Therefore, I think he has a great chance of making the step up, and doing well.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, and he might have a stinker, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in the side on the opening game.
