Whilst all the nagers on are annoying...
The actual biggest objectionable thing is the endless mis use of the phrase "bringing it home".
Its as if no one actually was around when that song came out, and therefore completely miss the fact that "football's coming home" was about the tournament coming to England after all those years. It was NEVER about winning the trophy and bringing the trophy home. Winning will not "bring it home". What a load of bollox.
Made worse by the fact that this mis-use has become the received meaning throughout Europe and lots of foreign supports now think its a display of English arrogance; i.e. that the trophies belong here because we are special and the best, despite plainly not having been so for a very long time. |  |
