Posted several times on here down the years that Szmodics wouldn't sign for us.
Have a mate who grew up with him that told me repeatedly that he absolutely hates us. Szmodics himself mentioned in a few interviews how nice it was to score against us etc etc. Was lead to believe he was properly against ITFC.
Messaged him last night and just had a reply of 'I just made that up at the time. Got a fair bit of mileage out of it and never thought I'd have to backtrack!'.
So in the interest of balance, was completely wrong on that front. Will file under 'not a decent source'. B*stard. [Post edited 16 Aug 2024 13:18]

A few weeks back I spoke to someone who used to teach him at secondary school and has occasionally spoken to him over the years.
He said that he'd never heard about SS hating us, but didn't speak to him enough to be able to completely rule it out.

I’m really pleased with this signing – sort of player who I always felt would have fitted in and was hoping we could have signed a couple of times in the past.
