Kids get everything thrown at them immediately, then what's to look forward to? They'll either be bored or written off as stats show them too early that they not as good as someone else.

It honestly offends me so much. All eager parents need do is expose kids to the opportunities, safeguard them as best as they can and keep helping them enjoy it and playing with smiles on their faces. We don't need to force data and tech into everything we do.

Where there’s youth sports, there’s money to be made. It’s out of control over here at youth ages (not so much with ‘soccer’ more basketball and American football) with delusional parents forking out thousands for camps and “elite training” and “exposure spotlights” as they chase that dream of their kid getting a full-ride paid-for college education.

It's depressing isn't it? I spent my childhood in the academy at Ipswich and subsequently coached at various professional clubs academies. I was lucky, my parents were great with it, but some of them really are shocking. Totally unfair on the kids and not helpful for their prospects either. The thought of any kid getting this strapped to their boots so their typically uninformed parent can masquerade as some sort of 'performance analyst' really saddens me.

It is very depressing. Kids need to be kids and enjoy sports for the love of the game, being in a team, learning how to deal with losing, all that good stuff. Analysis of a 10-year-old’s shooting does not need to happen. Kids mature physically and mentally at different ages. Leave them be. Just be a good parent, cheer them on and support them.

Accountants running the world. Everything (even play it seems) is now reduced to numerical data. We understand the cost of loads of stuff but the value of very little [Post edited 29 Aug 2024 13:22]

I don't think the OP needs shooting down for sharing. on 13:55 - Aug 29 with 1085 views | Marshalls_Mullet | I have seen some parents use these on their kids, and it does seem to be driven by the parents. The main problem is they end up with stats that they dont know how to use. They will look at the number of touches the player has had with each foot and say 'he needs to use his left foot more....'. But there wont be any game context around those stats, and the player may end up using their weaker foot more, but it may be to the detriment of their game if they are choosing the wrong option.

If successful, he'll be expected to wear these for all matches over the coming season and the data goes back to the coaching staff. Not sure how I feel about it yet.
