The Mendel-Idowu signing from Anderlecht has gone under the radar a bit, as he's joined up with the U21s. But he looks like an exciting (left footed) right winger, who can also play LW or as a 10.
Obviously it's a big step up for him, but at 19 I wonder if KMc is hoping he can join up with the first team squad this season.
One thing that strikes me about the PL, is that when the injuries/suspensions mount up, teams can call upon their talented U21 players. I don't think ITFC have anyone in our U21s that could realistically step up to the PL. |  | | |  |

Possibly. I imagine he might go out on loan in Jan. There might have been one eye on squad depth but ultimately we'll want to develop the lad.
I'm not sure how many PL teams actually dip into their U21s. They just have some very talented U21s as part of their group. We have Omari and Delap. I mean Chelsea probably have 40....
I know our youth strategy has changed with us going down the route of having young youth groups i.e. our U21s being more like 18-19 and not holding on to older ones (they either move on or out on loan for their development). We are trying to find the cream quicker and challenge them early. Time will tell if this works. | |

I'd probably say it's being given too much attention tbh as a youth signing, based on a few tricky YouTube videos at youth level and that he comes from Chelsea. In reality he was in Anderlecht's development squad last year with no sniff of the actual team. Imo it would be an absolute miracle if we saw a first team appearance from him this year, but hopefully in a few years. | | | |

Lol, it's actually worse than that! People comparing him to Omari. That's practically blasphemy. There's only a year between them! and this guy has already been let go without fuss from both Chelsea and Anderlecht. Obviously wish him the best though, and mustb have something to work with | | | |
