Cricket: SL really should win this 11:36 - Sep 9 with 899 viewsSteve_M

England threw it away over the weekend, careless in the first innings with wickets in hand and far too lose Saturday afternoon. The less said about yesterday's batting the better.

A bit of a chance still though but England need more of this:

Looks another tediously dark day at the Oval, a bit drier than the weekend.

Batted like it was the last day of term at school.

England seem happier to entertain and keep the game moving rather than actually being the best side in the world.

McCullum/Stokes don't seem to get it that if you are only batting between 30-60 overs of an innings, your bowlers just aren't going to get the rest they need and will break down.

Archer coming back into this set up will finish him for good.

Kind of hoping they lose this by 7 wickets.

They can't think they can bat like they have done this match and keep getting away with it

It's even more annoying having got through the really awkward conditions on Friday, albeit aided with some crappy bowling, that we then threw that strong position away.

“Batted like it was the last day of term at school.”

Beautifully summarised.

They don’t seem able to modify their approach do they. Like Mookamoo, I was hoping they get thumped to bring them back to earth for re-evaluation - they should be building for the Ashes series next winter.

very poor application and SL deserve the win. England have weakened the batting but at the same time picked a pretty sub par bowling attack overall. Thought Pott's looked really good in the last match.

You're correct, it's called a 'test' for a reason and the physical toll on bowlers is immense. I think I heard on Sky yesterday that a quick is doing 17-19km in a day's play. They need time to recover to be at their best.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
