Yet another TWTD Hive mind question -Medical. 18:22 - Sep 11 with 1240 views | Lord_Lucan | My friend has a medical condition and due to the nature of it and the necessity of speed he wants to take out his medical insurance option. issue is - the idea of medical insurance is to get quick attention but you need a doctors referral, however, the soonest doctors appointment is two weeks away which is an obvious problem. Any advice to get around this?

No, need a referral. @Mullet - That's what I thought but I'm not sure the 8 o clock rush is a thing anymore. Also, the blooming appointment is a phone call so they still won't be able to fill it in at that moment. Really crazy

Otherwise the best bet is the 8AM lottery at the GP. [Post edited 11 Sep 2024 19:06]

Fyi , A friend recently received a referral same day after a phone call appointment, it was emailed to him. Although not sure of the precise process/reason.

There's one in Norwich on Rouen St. I had to go this Sunday with a perforated eardrum (ouch!) and was seen and treated in an hour. Might be worth a try. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not sure if it's the same at every surgery, but my GP still has the 8am rush for appointments where you need to be seen the same day. As someone else suggested, there are walk-in centres but last time I used one of those they didn't have any doctors in, it was only nurses. [Post edited 12 Sep 2024 9:47]
