Elbow on Delap 16:42 - Sep 30 with 1131 viewsZx1988

Those of you who watched on TV yesterday - was anything made of the apparent elbow on Delap later on in the second half, not too far from the dugouts?

It looked fairly clear and obvious to me up in Pioneer Block M, but the lack of any sort of response on the pitch makes me wonder if it wasn't anywhere near as bad/elbowy as it appeared?

Wasn't an elbow, and if i'm being neutral Delap made the most of it - looked like he got some fingers in the face from the replay.

Absolutely nothing in it, villa players hand lightly brushed his face. Delap made of it what he could. It looked a foul in real time, but it'd have only been given as a foul if it was on Watkins in our box on 90+5

Cheers - that's what I thought, that there was probably less to it than there appeared from my position.

You'd have to be be an utter moron to swing an elbow in the PL these days, with VAR scrutinising pretty much anything.

Didn’t see it yesterday but watching it back, he got a few fingers in the mush. Bit painful, but there was nothing really in it for me.

I thought Watkins on O'Shea was worse, unintentional certainly, but as with any challenge you are responsible for your actions whether intentional or not, and he swung his elbow back and made solid contact with O'Shea, a mark came up instantly. Not a red card I admit, but I don't think a foul was even given if I remember correctly?

At least there was contact even if he made a meal out of it, unlike Pau Torres who went down clutching his face after Davis brushed the back of his head.

The O'Shea clout looked pretty bad on the telly, and I'm not so sure it was unintentional. I was surprised that no action was taken, not even a free kick if I recall although play was halted shortly after, and nothing from VAR. Sky replayed it a couple of times so at least they perceived it as a talking point. O'Shea definitely seemed to feel that there was something to talk about.
