Restore Call me Ted artwork to programme’s cover campaign! 09:33 - Oct 24 with 2147 viewsbugblatter

Further to my previous post, many people asked so I’ve set up an online petition to let the club know how many fans loved the gig-style artwork that graced the first few covers of Town’s programmes this season.

Please sign and share people… https://chng.it/5xPTYQtkZW

You may not have loved all the designs individually, but this fan-led concept is such a great one, and I hate to see our club kowtow to sponsors and partners when there is such a simple solution to the problem — simply ask the illustrators to remove any logos from their artwork.

Do you actually know the specific issue? Was it logos in the art work for certain?

I know this won't be popular but does it really matter? If the art work is included anyway, is it work causing the club problems over something really quite minor?

Truly impaired.

If they just moved it from a 'back flap' to a 'front flap' then everyone could pick which cover they wanted on display!

Yes it matters,
another example, despite all the soundbites, of the club turning it's back on the fans,
up there with dividend removal and moving supporters around to accommodate away fans

I think it does matter, it’s important that we at least try to have a voice against sponsor domination.

Prem regulations means they have to hand over another 900-1000 tickets. Unfortunately it was part of the price of getting to the Prem.

No harm, if there is a genuine groundswell of support, for trying to do something different, positive and that feels right.

I think it's been pointed out, from a sponsors perspective, it actually makes the programme much more of a talking point. Yes, it's still there - tucked away but it shouldn't be. It's value and impact is lost as a 'tear' out.

I understand this might seem kind of petty and irrelevant, but I just saw this as a rare occasion of the club putting a foot wrong (recently anyway), and they should be called out for it, especially when there is such a simple solution.

Just on that and we will really never know, but I wonder how hard they really looked at putting them in top teir Churchmans or appealed for a reduction in away support numbers

Signed (with passionate plea as to why the artwork should be returned to front cover, including some of the reasons in the other threads).

Either way, fans would have to move?

There's no chance of getting the allocation lowered. It's 10% or 3000, whichever is lower. In our case there's obviously not much difference.

As a possible compromise, why not print the "official" cover on the front and the Call Me Ted design upside-down on the back? That way it can be presented either way around, respecting the sponsors' sensitivities while still having an alternative "front" for the artwork.

Think I've just suggested the same thing as you already have.

I expect that doing so would create a far greater uproar from those who are wedded to the tradition of the players/squads being listed on the back cover.

Assuming it is our esteemed kit manufacturer, I suggest some black tape positioned over their logo applied to everyone's shirt in the next game might get the message across..
