With each passing week, we're looking more able to compete 17:12 - Nov 10 with 989 views | Dubtractor | The West Ham and Everton games feel like a bit of an outlier in our progression, with us otherwise looking able to compete with whoever we're playing, create chances and goals on the transition, able to defend solidly and spoil the game when we need to. Noticeable that we didn't give away many good chances today, which has been a problem in some games. Scoring goals regularly will give us a chance to stay up, and that's the thing that promoted teams often struggle with. We've only fired a blank in 3 games out of 11. We've 'only' lost 5 times too, which isn't bad for a team that has come up the leagues as quickly as us. Just a matter of turning some of the draws into wins - our 5 draws is the highest total in the league. Just to add to that - a number of the Summer signings are now starting to show why we signed them. O'Shea, Muric, Johnson and Cajuste were all very good today, with the first 3 having been written off (foolishly) by some of our support after way too few performances. COYB! Tuanzebe is a huge player for us, we look so much better as a defensive unit with him in there. And I really like Johnson playing ahead of him away from home too. Give us a really solid base and enables us to defend as a 5 when sitting in. I wonder if it may be a tactic McKenna employs consistently away from home now.

We have gone into the 90th minute either ahead or level in our last three games. Delap is a monster and will keep scoring goals, as will Szmodics if he plays each week. Return of Axel is key. Yep. We're getting better each week. Get this piddly international break out of the way and KM will have unlimited time with this group. [Post edited 10 Nov 2024 17:17]

Yes, I think we've matured a bit now. I think we were a bit too gung-ho in attack in some earlier games in order to create enough chances and shock our opponents, but now everyone knows we can score, it somehow gives us the freedom to play a more conventional game and defend a lead with (some) confidence.

Axel’s great, but could maybe work on his marking at corners! It was a lovely corner though, so you’re not going to stop all of them.
