Ipswich Town 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers - Match Report26th Nov 2019 22:16 Town had a goal controversially ruled out just before half-time and Tomas Holy saved a second-half penalty as the Blues and Wycombe drew 0-0 in a top-v-second clash at Portman Road. Just before half-time, Luke Chambers’s header was diverted into his own net by Curtis Thompson but referee Alan Young wrongly disallowed it having consulted his linesman with the players already lined-up for the restart. In the second half, Holy stopped Joe Jacobson’s spotkick after Chambers had fouled David Wheeler.61
Coincidentally I was at Wycombe game tonight fairly turgid affair Humphreys not really in the game as Mansfield were too physical for him but some of the weight of passes he done were fantastic, players didn’t have to adjust themselves at all.
Saw Gary Probert before the game as well.

In a way that was one of the better pre-Covid League One experiences, dreadful game though Wycombe made it, an utterly fired up and furious PR. Just in case any of us had got apathetic over the previous season or so, nope it still mattered immensely.
I remember texting my brother during that game saying I'd take 6th place now because we were so poor and being top was a false position. Didn't even manage that by the end of the season!

even before that it was so unconvincing, the underlaying data and the good old fashioned eye test i didn't see a good side.
I posted comments similar to that at the time and was shouted down that we were top and everything would be ok, results were the only thing that mattered.

Crowd of 19,000. Funny that we've now got probably the same number again wanting tickets. Wonder how many of them were closely following the League One journey back then.
I remember Burton away (scruffy Garbutt goal) and then the Opening home game against Sunderland and feeling excited thinking he was going to be a good season. We all underestimated the league in hindsight.
