Tamworth v Spurs - time to scrap ET? 17:57 - Jan 12 with 1200 views | Zx1988 | Tamworth did superbly to hold out over the course of 90mins, but it was painfully clear that Spurs would net a few in extra time owing to their extra fitness. Given that the FA has stacked the deck by scrapping replays, surely the balance can be restored by taking tied matches straight to penalties, rather than allowing the foregone conclusion of extra time? Not that it'll ever happen, because it would disadvantage the big boys.

I agree about treating it special, but that should extend to keeping replays etc., If they're going to stick with getting rid of replays, there needs to be some balance that helps to prevent tied matches ending up as a foregone conclusion.

Tamworth v Spurs - time to scrap ET? on 18:13 - Jan 12 with 1087 views | Mark | We should campaign for replays to be reintroduced. Tamworth were denied a huge cash payout today by not getting a replay at Tottenham, money which would have kept them going for years. Big clubs argue they are too tired to play replays, yet find the energy for pre-season competions around the world and ever expanding European competitions. The new football regulator needs to look at this. The FA does not seem to act in the interest of fans, take them moving our match this weekend to Sunday for international TV viewers.

In my opinions, get rid of replays, scrap the EFL cup in its current format. Either get rid of the EFL cup or keep the EFL format for Championship L1 and L2 teams and Have a cup winner's cup at the end of the season (FA Cup vs EFL Cup) Any European birth from the EFL cup winners (in it's current form) would go to 2nd place of the FA Cup. Alternatively, run the EFL cup so that Ch, L1, L2 are put into regional mini leagues of X teams, all teams in the mini league play each other 1 time with an even number of home and away ties. Winners of each division goes into a knockout phase with 10 EPL sides, as there would have been one knockout game with EPL vs EPL teams before the inter-divisional games begin. Very complicated I know, but I hate the fact that the EFL cup includes EPL teams, yet I totally understand why they do it $$$. Never going to happen, not in a million years - but it's what I would consider to be my happy place for football cups. [Post edited 12 Jan 22:21]

Completely agree. There seems to be no one in the game at the top level trying to protect the game and its history. It's a real shame what has happened to the FA Cup. Money has hollowed out some of the best parts of football.
Tamworth v Spurs - time to scrap ET? on 23:37 - Jan 12 with 819 views | Hugoagogo_Reborn | I think they should allow any non-league teams that reach the 3rd round proper and beyond to have the choice of playing home or away against the team they are drawn against. That way, they can maximise revenue opportunities of a big cup tie, in the absence of replays.

I realise that this will be unpopular but I would like to see a Cup Winners Cup between the English and Scots, 2 legged. But then I'd also like penalty shootouts to be taken by fans. In the EFL cup as that's not a serious competition.

Hear what you are saying, but realistically if replays were in, Ange would've just brought on Kulusevski and Son at 70 minutes instead of 90. Tamworth did well, and to be honest for the smaller teams, yes of course they miss the payday, but the best chance of progressing is surely over one tie. I'd keep it as is, but make it so the lower ranked team always play at home - also the broadcasters need to actually show all the lower league ties rather than picking the all prem ties.
