Harry Clarke 12:40 - Jan 27 with 2884 views | blue_curacao | There were rumours recently of a potential loan move to Sheff Wed but it seems to have gone quiet since then. Has anyone seen or heard any more news regarding a possible move for him in this window?

If serious enough to keep him out for the season (which I expect it probably is) then he's one we might be able to de-register, meaning we're less likely to get Clarke out? TBH I think it makes sense regardless for him to get some game time. He's not getting in ahead of Johnson, Godfrey or Tuanzebe any time soon. Probably O'Shea as well if it came to it.

I wonder if Clarke could play the Burns role, feels a better fit for him in many ways than that hybrid RB/RCB role. I think he'd offer more there than Ben Johnson - less defensive responsibility which he has struggled with but the more explosive athleticism to get forwards like Burns does and he's technically decent enough to get crosses in etc?

Didn't he start off as a forward, or am I dreaming that?

Really interesting idea. I agree that he's not really solid enough defensively for RB/RCB but definitely has qualities going forward. I still think that he needs to develop in terms of his positioning and recovery when our attacking play breaks down. For me, Wes is really good at tracking back and offering defensive cover to avoid opposition overloads. I've also noticed recently that Burns has been more and more of a focus aerially for the long ball. Could Clarke offer the same? It really seems to help take the pressure off Delap.

We definitely need someone to provide that width and attacking impetus down the right side assuming we keep the same shape. Sounds like Jelert is that type of player. If we can't get him or someone else we want then I'd definitely be keeping Harry Clarke around for that role. [Post edited 27 Jan 13:17]

Physically he would add something to us in a more offensive capacity, my worry would be positionally and tactically whether he has the discipline. Burns is so effective for us out of possession and he's a big loss. I think Clarke's a centre half tbh, always have since he joined.

Harry Clarke on 13:21 - Jan 27 with 2238 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | Think it was always going to be a case that it's one we do late on to see how Tuanzebe holds out (and it looks as if he's come through the City game, last week and Liverpool without a reaction to his injury). He's the future at this club for that RB/hybrid role. Get him out playing games in the Championship and build on the experience he's got so far. He's only 22 or 23, plenty of development in him still.

Johnson hasn't had the best season so far either, although to be fair he could probably just do with a run in the team.

Said this last week, even before the injury to Burns. Our right wing back problem by GlasgowBlue 20 Jan 15:38Ben Johnson has been very poor imo. We try Wes Burns as a more attacking wing back option. The one player we haven't started in that position is Harry Clarke. All of his starts have been at right back in a 4 rather than the attacking wing back.
As he started his career as a more attacking player would it be worth giving him a try in that role? I appreciate that KM has suggested that he may e available to loan but our right side is clearly our weak spot. [Post edited 27 Jan 15:14]
