I think the early signs are we have more than enough to take apart most teams in the championship, even without any further additions. Philogene will be a handful in this league, midfield looked better than we saw against better opposition last season and back four should be more than enough to deal with most of the teams we come up against. McKenna will have been well pleased with the signs he saw last night. Supporters should be too.

This is based on one pre-season game against a team that doesn’t even play in the English league? Terrific boost with the win against Aberdeen, but these type of statements are so random especially when pre-season games are mainly about fitness, working on formations and getting minutes under the belt for players. Judge us after 10 games in the Championship, that will be your best indicator not a result from a pre-season friendly.

Enjoyed the game and it gave me cause for optimism.... but not getting carried away. If Hirst can't stay fit ( and he never has) then we'll struggle. We know what we need...2CMs+striker.
Think I was mostly impressed with Philogene and Clarke because if we can get those 2 clicking it's like 2 massive signings. Let's be honest... they've been mostly cr@p so far and we're due some payback. Matusiwa.. mopped up and quietly did a good job.

Yes, 1 decent CM and striker, plus another back up CM.

I think confidence will be a big factor this year. Hit the ground running and we could be flying. Some serious talent if they can all perform towards the best of their potential.

Would love to see a couple of new signings before Auxerre, so they have a bit of time to gel before Brum.

It’s a friendly, this is where we go a bit silly on here and get carried away. Games against sides in our own league when the intensity is at 100% and the 3pts are all that matters is when the judgement should be made and that’s my point. Not in a friendly fixture that counts for very little.
