Loan players - is it different this time ? 10:26 - Aug 14 with 702 viewsHarwich_Blue

I know that we are not all fans of loan players - but this time it does seem a little different when we have an option to buy , sometimes mandatory should we get promotion - therefore where previously there was less incentive to "die" for the team , is this not a little different , quality players through the door with an incentive for both sides , not just gap fillers and short term placements.

Means the caliber of player we have is better yet , understandably so , the consequence is they are not prepared to play Champ long term , high ambitions that can be fulfilled at the loan club (I.E. us !)

Maybe this is a better approach to loans

I think it is a little bit of let's not buy them in and risk wasting money. Try before you buy, if they can handle the championship or prem, even English football.

Maybe because our scouting network is still in its infancy and we are still feeling our way.

The club will get plaudits for the right players and complaints about the bad. Not all are going to be successful, but we as fans will support them in the blue.

I hope that the players will gel soon and we will see McKenna ball part Deux as that was exciting to watch last time.

You can only really do this when you have the resources/ ambitions that we have though.

We have a realistic chance of promotion this year and so do those obligations/ options of being fulfilled. It's essentially a permanent transfer with a probation period.

Is it not a way round the FFP regulations to loan players rather than buy them this year?

That doesn't really work when the purchase is mandatory upon promotion - Azon could be completely sh*t but if we end up promoted anyway we’ll be compelled to buy him

Surely it is just because we are caught financially between wanting to go back up but knowing we’ll need to balance the books if we don’t, so not being in a position to commit big fees right now

Agreed, wouldnt have been an option last time we were in the Champ.

Think the books are balancing out fine, we have potentially £80M coming into the club this summer with Delap gone (£30M), Broadhead going (£10M) and Hutchinson likely to go (£40M). . .

Don't see how it would be, the money is still being spent on loan fees and wages.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

The opposite, no? The loan fee will go straight on the P&L, compared to the transfer fee which would be split over x years

That is true, but it is more fail-safe than paying right now. I dare say he would still have to play a certain percentage of games to force the obligation to buy. Contracts are not 1 phrase or circumstance. They are insanely complex. All that is agreed in essence is a price. Of course if he bangs in 35 goals this term the price remains.
