Remember listening to an EADT podcast in July about hearing how Burnley had their team ripped apart and how much continuity we have that will be our strength from the signings last summer. Then reading McKennas post match comments. We are just all over the place from the mixed messages to players being out of position.

Especially when the vast majority of the team today have been at the club for at least a year. Recruitment has clearly not gone even close to plan in certain areas and it feels like an excuse that was prepared for integrating new players rather than trying to tidy up issues from previous transfer windows.

The only good thing to come out of all this nonsense will be the demise of the oft repeated assertion that we recruited players who’ll be an absolute ‘cheat code in the Championship’

Which one will breach parole first?…popcorn at the ready…(What’s App group, Aug ‘25)

Exactly, it doesn’t sit well with me trotting out the comparisons to 23/24 in terms of turnover and it was our choice to let others main stays leave.

We’ve heard the relegated early helps planning and attack the market lines as well. Time to deliver, the squad should be good enough to get results even when we are settling into the season.

If it’s any comfort, Luton were relegated back to the Championship with a well thought of young manager last season, after a pitiful PL points haul of 26….

They subsequently only managed 1 point from their first three games, went out of the Carabao Cup on penalties, and had to wait until September for their first win in the Championship.

Can’t quite recall how things panned out after that, but it should teach us all not to panic this early into the season…
