I did wonder that. I think the performance will have taken a lot out of them. They really did give it their all. Aside from building towards suspensions, I would imagine that level of bookings would be a fine. They could easily have had more earlier in the match too (although that would probably have meant fewer of them taking them later in the game). |  |

To be fair, that is probably reasonable considering the inconsistency in giving bookings. Several of their players were consistently fouling and diving and got no card at all. Small got a yellow card for simulating an elbow to his face whilst McAteer got one for being accused of it! I am sure that the same match refereed by two different Championship referees could have 2 yellow cards or 12. | |

Yes there is probably some truth in your statement. I do feel we are a bit nice to opponents. If I was up against big Jacob and Dara I know they would be fair against me. They perhaps need to show a bit more steel.
But the point of the op is perhaps the rules of the game let's you get away with a lot. They get their 6 bookings by numerous infringements and they know and we know that if you share the fouls around the team you finish with 11 players. Perhaps another rule should be added like if you get 4 bookings then your 5th booking becomes a red. This would stop teams sharing the fouls around and getting results by blatantly breaking rules. Most will complain at that, but it will make for a fairer game. We would have got a result on Saturday if they didn't constantly foul us and break up our play. As I said earlier Brum did it all over the pitch and got away with it. The ref was too scared to caution them. They should have had at least 3 more yellows. [Post edited 25 Aug 6:45]

Actually thinking back to the saints game. Wellington the left back kept putting the boot in on Clarke. I'm surprised he still has an Achilles after the number of times it was tapped. He didn't get booked until into the 2nd half. | | | |
