I wanted a like-for-like back-up for his position but "biggest mistake" seems a little reactionary, given it's only affected one game for us so far. We made the same errors last night as we did on Friday when Matisuwa played. We also had the same scenario with Morsy, however players of the supposed quality of Cajuste / Nunez should be able to adapt their game to fill in for a missing CDM for the odd match.
I think not signing a keeper with better distribution and failing to get a proper replacement for Delap look like much bigger issues over the games we've seen so far. Ironically we've been improving at progressing the ball from keeper to attack lately, but seem to have traded this off against defending transitions in any capacity. |  | | |

I like the guy but he’s had plenty of chances now, and I’ve seen little to suggest he’d have materially improved our fortunes. He’s not the type of player that can grab a game by the scruff and dominate the midfield.
Morsy is certainly an option, but we could be miles off by the next window so may as well look to a longer term option. | | | |
