Very harsh, as others have also said, Furlong taking an age to pass the ball doesn't help. Good stuff that you want to hook a 19 year old at HT though whilst he's still integrating.
Maybe you should go watch your own team losing 4-0 at half-time?
I would actually move him to 10 and try and get him involved there as Nunez had a very poor first half.

I’ve said it before and got about 100 down arrows, I’ve not been very impressed with him. Lots of people talk up his quality but I don’t see much of it. He’s quite lethargic, seems to want a second more time than he’s going to get and I’m interested to see what his 2nd touch will be like, his poor 1st touch hasn’t allowed us to see it yet. |  | | |

True, but he is a solid defender. With Leif so far forward on the other side, Furlong's the player we need at RB, it's just that system ahead of him (or his instructions) aren't allowing him to get effective early balls forward. Should be a RM, RW and CF available for him on the ground or behind the defenders, but too often he turns (or is forced to turn) back to RCB. |  |

In his defence he isn't exactly getting quality balls and that means a man on him which isn't easy to play through. In fairness this game is playing out as I expected a poor team against one with dented confidence. We've got our goal and with any luck can push on second half. [Post edited 20 Dec 2025 16:01]

The thing is, it's all very well being solid but he stifles the RW. He's a lot of the issue we have getting the RW to work.
I don't think he has the passing ability to play it quickly, think the WBA fans said similar.

Young has lost his legs from a defensive point of view, but imo notable how much more effective our right attacking play is when he has been right back. I do wonder how Johnson would have done playing more games in the champ at right back.. but clearly not fancied at all. | | | |
