I think some players really click at some clubs when it comes to loan spells. Even Tyreece Simpson tore it up at Swindon, by way of example.

Maybe Lankshear thought that if he carried on doing well this season for Oxford, he would earn himself the best possible move at the end of the season. [Or even a shot at getting minutes for Spurs if they're relegated!]

Maybe he thinks starting regularly for Oxford will be better for his career development than becoming a bit part player at Town or Boro?

Not really, he'd have played 4 months for us and then been sold or benched if we got promoted, maybe he wants to play week in, week out?

Not sure I believe that

George Elek, the Oxford United supporting host of the Not the top 20 podcast was on Guardian Football Weekly earlier this week and said that Oxford have an option/obligation to buy Lankshear for £4m if they stay up this season.
If that's true it would be £1.5m more than the club has paid for a player before.

To be fair to O’Rourke, have always felt he’s been one of the better outside journalists when reporting on us.
