Well our group are very excited about a first visit to the shiny new Everton stadium. Took a look on last visit to Goodison. And it’s remarkable from the outside. Also going with a bit of optimism of a performance and a point or three - which would be massive ahead of the long international break.

(Get to tick Everton off the visited clubs again).

Any ideas on where Town fans are gathering pre match? Away ground guide doesn’t provide much:

“The area around Bramley-Moore Dock is still in need of huge redevelopment to cope with the demand that a 52,769-seater stadium will provide, and for that reason, the number of pubs is currently lacking in that area.

However, the stadium is within walking distance to the city centre, which is one of the finest in the country for social gatherings, and has numerous areas which are populated with many bars in close vicinity to one another.

Situating yourself near Moorfields train station would be a good idea, as this is less than a 30-minute walk to the stadium, or also provides the opportunity to jump a quick train down, while also being an area condensed with many quality bars and pubs.

Regular away-day fans who have been to either Anfield or Goodison will already know many of the best spots for away fans in the city centre, with many often converging on Concert Square, Seel Street and the Baltic Triangle, but for the first few matches at the new stadium, it would be wise to plan ahead, as many are concerned about the efficiency and overcrowding of public transport heading towards the stadium.

Concert Sq and Seel Street can be a bit rough, and they are not attractive areas. Baltic Triangle is a new drinking spot, but a bit more of an indie vibe I think.

Are you getting the train, or driving?

Up for the whole weekend, hotel, training it.

So plan will be find somewhere in centre and then walk up ground.

Baltic Triangle maybe for the Friday night.

Somewhere central further towards ground for Saturday lunch and beers is plan. I see someone recommended rigbys.

Rigbys is a bit of a Liverpool institution, but just an old school pub really. Which is great if thats what you're after.

Its a loooong time since Ive been out in Liverpool. Alberts Schloss might be worth a look for somewhere with a bit more atmosphere. The Ropewalks area used to be quite good for independents.

A guy called Rob Gutmann has a lot of bars in Liverpool, and hes generally a good operator:

The Red Lion, The Monro, The Vines, The Green Man, Love & Rockets, St Peter’s Tavern, Queen of Hope Street, The White Hart/The Engineer, Papillon, Metrocola, The Pilgrim.

I'll be in there post-game, although I'd rate Track just marginally better than Azvex 😁

You can walk to the stadium from most pubs in the city central area ime its not like its miles away from places, just places that werent setup for football crowds orginally Even Albert Dock, which is why the Baltic Triangle gets mentioned is nearby, so there's a bunch around there even a Greene King pub if you miss home ;) But theres only one pub to visit as a must in Liverpool and thats the Roscoe Head. 54 consecutive editions in the Good Beer guide, ie its appeared in every single guide since the early 70s.

I spent 3 months working on the first Liverpool city centre McDonalds back in 85. I think before that it was the old Burtons cloths store. A group of us southerners made the Central Pub as our meet up place which IMO was a fabulous central location. Anyone know if it's still there?
