Its annual conference began with a queuing balls-up, congregants waiting 45 minutes to have Q-codes checked, then joining a second queue to collect paper passes, then a third to have those passes clipped like old bus tickets. Benito Mussolini would not have tolerated such inefficiency."

Or the Reform slide continues as more and more corruption is revealed and Farage leaves? Farage is currently polling as the least respected and liked leader. Even behind Badenoch which is saying something.

Or does he want to go the Liz Truss route and claim he would definitely have won if it wasn't for the establishment and then go off to join the US grifters speaking tour circuit?

Are you suggesting he is in it for himself and not for the wider good?

I suspect Trump probably felt like that when he got elected the first time (he looked positively miserable when it was confirmed he won), but he then discovered the opportunity for grift was so great he changed his mind. Wouldn't put that past his pal. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Very much this. He already hates the scrutiny, let alone what he'd get as PM. Luckily, it's highly unlikely to happen either way

Don't think he can just walk away...when you get £36m donations from 2 crypto billionaires, and one of your manifesto policies is to reduce Capital Gains Tax on crypto trading for high earners from 24% to 10%, I think they might be expecting him to try to deliver that return on their investment. Unless of course Labour manage to make the donations illegal retrospectively and force them into returning the money (at least they'll have racked up a bit of interest on it if that happens)

Depending on who you listen to, they haven't got the money anyway. It apparently was being delivered at £1m a month until there was a General Election. But you are absolutely right, they haven't donated to a charity. They want their (further) tax breaks in return which would be worth many multiples of their donations.
