Will city play a weakened team sat? 12:46 - Oct 12 with 1339 viewspingu67

With city playing PSG Wednesday and AEK Athens next Tuesday, do we think city could be tempted to play a weaker side against us?

I appreciate even a city reserve will be packed with quality but it could be a good time to play them between the 2 champ league games

We saw with Arsenal how well that went, tho admittedly we were also not playing our regular first team.

ManC will want to win the Champions League, as it is their best chance of guaranteeing European football next season - given possible points deductions and the chance that UEFA may take a more generous view than the Prem.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

That is the thing with these yop sides that whoever they put out will be strong

But it would be helpful if they rest haaland

I suggest even a MC " weakened" team will be a tall order to overcome in their own back yard. But we'll give it a blooming good go. COYBs

I doubt it as they don’t know how much of a point deduction (if any) they’ll receive. They’ll need all the points that they can muster this season.

I actually think we get a draw saturday, sounds mental I know.

I think they will push to get as many points as possible to prepare for the deduction.

I think anything we get will be a complete bonus. As long as we don't get battered, I'll be happy.

I wouldnt be surprised if 2 or 3 of their very best are kept back and possibly rested entirely, to what degree that makes things easier for us is open to debate. The 3 points we acquired on saturday means we can go there and set up 442 and try to make it difficult, I think 4231 will play into their hands somewhat.

Nah, the budgies need points to avoid being dragged into the relegation scrap.

There is zero chance they rest Haaland for a game vs Athens. In fact he is more likely to be rested for that game.

A bit off topic, but -

'ManC will want to win the Champions League, as it is their best chance of guaranteeing European football next season'

It's far from guaranteed. I see UEFA sanctioning ManC if their PL charges are confirmed, and CFCB are already monitoring the situation closely. However, that would not move fast enough for next season.

More like is that in light of a guilty PL charge, and subsequent severe sanction, the FA refuses to grant them a UEFA license == ManC also out of Europe even if they qualify.
