| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless 10:44 - Oct 12 with 2464 views | ITFC_Essex | Even if we were to get spanked 6 or 7-0, it's unlikely any of their results will stand/matter at the end of the season. This is a bit of a farce fixture while they remain in the league isn't it? Anyone else feeling as numb about it, as I am? | |

| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 10:49 - Oct 12 with 2052 views | Ryorry | We should use it as an opportunity to play with freedom, expressing ourselves, without fear. Imagine the boost in confidence if we were to win or draw, even if it didn’t result in points gained. | |

The pressure is off this time for sure. However, having seen how they dispatched Liverpool we're probably in for a rough day, as the City players are still very much motivated to prove something, but it will be a pointless game. The Premier League and FA need to end the farce before they have to strip another title really and relegate them to League Two.

‘Pool were way below par yesterday, 3 key starters out injured, gave a 21 year old his first start. We can do better than that. Agree with your points about the EPL and FA though.

| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 10:59 - Oct 12 with 1976 views | SheffordBlue | I feel the same and I think it's really important that GON doesn't let that seep into the players. City look guilty as sin but they could win their appeal and the result stand. I think it would also be of immense morale value if we were to beat the cheaters even if the result doesn't end up standing. | |

Nil nil until the sending off and quite even to be fair to that point.

| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 11:22 - Oct 12 with 1851 views | mellowblue | No, not really. Depends if it is an automatic cancel all results and demotion or massivo points deduction where the results are left intact. They will play for the points, but expectations will be low anyway, they have big togetherness now, 6 wins in a row, far too much quality for us to contend with. Maresca is a fresh voice in the dressing room and Pep-ball was getting a bit stale. | | | |
| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 11:22 - Oct 12 with 1842 views | MattinLondon | But their league results will stand it’s just that they’ll probably get a massive points deductions. So if we were to get heavily beaten then our goal difference will still be affected. | | | |

| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 11:42 - Oct 12 with 1723 views | ThatMuhrenCross | It may not count for anything for them, but it will still for us. They'll likely get a 60 point deduction, but if we can snatch a point, it could still be very useful to us. To be honest though, it's just a privilege to get to play at these kinds of stadiums against these types of players. Lets just enjoy it! | |

I haven't seen anything suggesting their results will definitely stand though, as just getting straight booted out of the league is still on the table. They only "stand" while the appeal plays out from what I have read. Any definitive sanctions or structural changes to past or present results are stalled until the independent appeal board reviews the case. Until that process reaches a final conclusion, all current results stand, but this doesn't mean that they will do afterwards.

My feelings is that this won’t be settled before the end of this season. The appeal process, which hasn’t even begun, will take ages.
| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 12:46 - Oct 12 with 1417 views | Illinoisblue | It’s a massive problem for the premier league. City will dig in as much as possible. I bet sponsors and broadcasters are getting lawyers to look at their existing contracts for any escape routes. And where’s the PFA in all this? The vast majority of their members are having their careers messed around right now while City are allowed to carry on cheating. | |

Agree. Mocking their fans is one thing, spitting or assaults is not acceptable.

This might be totally unrepresentative of the actually feeling of MCFC fans, but their fans seem very unbothered about the whole thing. They are mocking the "abuse" other teams give them, and will continue to follow the club whatever league they are in. If this was ITFC, we as fans arent to blame, and we'd just simply support our team
| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 13:06 - Oct 12 with 1315 views | RetroBlue | I think the game will be a good experience for our squad. So in that respect its a positive game. The PL will no doubt bottle it re punishment anyway.... | |

I don't think the PL can 'bottle it' because of what they did to Forest and of course Everton, including that £40m to be paid to Burnley. It will be a massive points deduction, but the only way it helps us is it takes one relegation place away. Fines, as others have suggested will of course come but are pointless. I've always thought fining clubs for overspending, when they clearly have a lot of money is a non-punishment. It has to be points and transfer restrictions. Their own rules state City only have this appeal and nowhere to go after the punishment is announced. No CAS or anything like that. So, I believe it has to be done this season according to the rules both sides signed up to.

They're in denial and defensive mode currently. Which is not surprising, we probably would be, too. It will be interesting to see how many fans stick around when (if) a really heavy punishment is handed down. There will be, as with any club, a sizeable core continuing to attend and support, including many who fell in love with City during the years of success. But there will also be a cohort of glory-hunters who slope away in the lower divisions.

| Manchester City Away - Feels totally meaningless on 13:31 - Oct 12 with 1166 views | J2BLUE | I think this is an odd stance. Does anyone seriously expect them to just be kicked out of the league mid season? I would be amazed if they were and results against them did not stand. If they get that sort of punishment it's far more likely it will drag on for a few more months and then they will get a points deduction. I think points against City will matter as much as any others for the clubs playing them. | | | |

Yeah and even if they were, the league would have to come up with some sort of fair system for those they have played/haven't played anyway. I'm kind of the opinion that the most important thing is to manage the squad sensibly. They are in red hot form and we all know our expectations. Without sounding defeatist, I will just be pleased to see us come out of it unscathed and ready to give Forest a good beating at FPR next week!
