Civelli Targeting Pre-Christmas Return
Civelli Targeting Pre-Christmas Return
Tuesday, 27th Oct 2009 13:39

Midfielder Luciano Civelli is hoping to be back in action before Christmas. The Argentinian has been out of action since March after damaging his cruciate and medial knee ligaments.

Civelli told the club site: "I am getting there but I know there is still a lot more work to do.

"The injury was very hard to take at first. It's the first time I have been out for so long but you get a lift each time you get to the next stage and now I'm waiting to see the specialist, then hopefully I can move on again.

"The surgeon said that I would be out for maybe nine months and that is around Christmas, but I'm hoping to be back before then."

Civelli made eight appearances for the Blues last season having signed from Argentinian side Banfield for £1.1 million in January.

Wonderful news, it'll be like having a new signing, and with Norris alongside Leadbitter in the centre, we'll have an incredible midfield!

COYB!

Superb news for the boy and great news for us. If he's back firing, even at 95% full fitness, by end of Jan / Feb, this gives the team one big boost. Norris is a miss as well.

Civelli Leadbitter Norris Edwards is a solid midfield - maybe even Keane can win a game with these for in place! Doubt it tho!

Hopefully not rushed back and by the time he is back we will have climbed to mid table so not to apply to much on his return!

Callum do u listen to emo music??... Great to see civelli is making progress but with civelli chuck leadbitter and Edwards in the midfield where would that leave Walters coz we all kno that he is not a frontman anymore???

He'll turn up 2 minutes late for training one day & RK will make him train with the youths for a couple of months along with Garvan.
Sorry sorry negative vibes......
It's good news, he should make a big difference out on the left.

Great!!

Top player - always gives 110% for the cause. Arguably, our left-midfield has been very week without him, but alongside the likes of Norris, Leadbitter and Edwards - AMAZING. No other team will be able to live with the work rate!

Brilliant news!

Now watch RK give him 2 games, decide he is not in his plans then sell him off.

KeanoITDC09 has a point. Everyone seems to think that Civelli, Leadbitter, Norris and Edwards would be the first pick midfield. Where would that leave Walters? If miracles were to happen and we get a 20 gaol a season striker, who drops out? Stead presumably, Priskin seems out of favour so it would have to be Pablo or Walters to make way.

Would not anyone have Walters at Right midfield rather than Edwards.
