Im thinking that if this is true about another midfielder (with also rumours of Boatang last week), Chuck is a bit further away than the November target Keane gave him, also in my mind is that he might play Walters up front when he gets one in, and i think Priskin will come good in a couple of games.

Personally think the Healy signing was to help out Cork, an old pals act as it were?, to try and stop then going into admin. Turned out we could have had him for free when they did a short time later, so this backs my case up. Martin had good reviews from Man U, not man enough for the Prem but could he do a job in Champ?, gamble was a calculated one and hasnt payed off as yet, as we all know, the Championship can be more physical if albeit slower than the Prem.
Colback is a good player, Keane has gone for experience in Quinn to get us outta the poop for now, and its working. So therefore we have only really made 1 bad signing in Healy so lets get off his back.

..Ooo, and i think Leadbitter is the best Town signing since Sixto Peralta, a little lacking in height, but everything else is spot on, rarely gives the ball away, tracks back, doesnt shy away from getting stuck in and weighs in with goals.

What more do you want from a midfielder??, if we had 4 Leadbitters across the middle we'd have 100 chances a match.

McCaan would not be just another midfielder, he would be a defensive midfielder!! (as would have been Boeteng). The only player we have in that position is Healy, Keano has tried to convert Trotter to play in that position, but it really has not worked..... McCaan would not replace Leadbitter, Quinn or Norris... Trotters position is the one that Roy rightly sees as weak.

Get him quick. Trotter, Quinn, Colback have all looked goods on occasions but dod not put in a consistent per4formance week in and week out.

These links to a midfielder does make me wonder if Civelli and Norris are still a long way off being ready.

I think Healy is a good signing. Sounds bizarre, but hear me out. He has experience and before breaking his leg(s), was a very decent quality Eire international. He's hard and can play attacking (or could maybe before various injuries) or in a holding role. Yes, it was a favour / charitable giving to Cork... but we got him for peanuts. The squad concept does mean that players outside the 1st XI squad can push hard, play well in the reserves - which Healy is doing - and provide decent opposition / competition in training, etc, rather than a bunch of lightweight kids. Football is far more about what goes on in training, etc, than just what happens on the pitch on Saturday.

Trotter ain't ready, Peters a squad player - better suited it seems to left back, Colback, a very decent prospect but we are fluffing him for Steve Bruce, Norris decent but injured, Civelli, very decent but injured, Edwards - okay, but sometimes runs about in circles, Garvan - good, but hasn't progressed in the last 3 years and seems not to be a RK type player, Quinn - tries hard, a good squad player, Martin - utter and absolute cr*p - a tart of the first order who is lightweight, over rated and ineffective. A huge waste of £1.5m and a 5 yr contract. Who on earth gets a 5 year deal these days? What has he done? Has Healy done less? Compare £1.5m and £70k and tell me which signing is worst. It is a no brainer.

Leadbitter is possibly Keane's best signing. Gavin McCann is experienced and has been there and done it. I'd get him in now. Simples (as meerkat look alike Lee Martin might say.... or is it the other way round).

In conclusion, we do have several midfielders - agreed. But do we have the right balance and the right quality? Not at the moment is my response to that.

Civelli (LM), Norris and Leadbitter (centre) and Gavin McGann right sided... that's a really decent midfield with Walters an option on the right side and Pabs & Priskin (please start playing well) up top. Stead off the bench is needed. Back four D Wright left, McAuley and Delaney CB's and Rosenior or Edwards on the right side. Murphy in goal, come January, Begovic until then (B4 he goes to Spurs)... With a decent bench, this is looking like a side / squad and capable of a big late push and coming out of nowhere sneaking into the play-offs, with that much needed momentum and no pressure on us, as you get with sides that have been in the top 6 all year.

Colbeck is only here till Jan, however the Macums do rate him so he won't be staying, not sure about him myself. I don't think RK's found that Def Mid player yet so if McGann's the man then so be it. Mind you I would'nt be putting too much money on this coming off.

McCann has tonnes of experience at top level so if his fitness is still OK would be a very good short term loan signing. I will believe it when it happens though

McCann would be the perfect acquisition in that midfield alongside Leadbitter.

Obviously Roy is not keane(!) on Garvan . . . many who post on this board - who actually go to the reserve games have clearly outlined why. Trotter was rightly left out yesteday, so competion in the centre is very limited. This would be a good signing, although a striker is a must - despite a decent showing from Priskin yesterday (Stead despite the goal, was poor and apparently Ray Crawford - who knows about scoring goals - said he was awful).

Could I also just say that I am impressed with Delaney - he looks a decent centre back as many actually pointed out earlier in the season.

P.s. Healy in my opinion is NOT a good player - but no worse than Trotter who looks knacked by minute 2 of any game! I agree with another post that RK (wrongly IMO) signed Healy to help Cork out

@ callumgarryskeemer first off you speak in definites (in other words you don't know what you talking about) when this is all paper talk. How many players have the papers linked to us this season? They make most of this cr@p up to sell newspapers they don't care about facts or the truth, just as long as they sell their papers and don't get sued. But you use this information as a bludgen to try and beat RK with. One day I still hope to see a sensible post from you....but I am not going to hold my breath.

"Delaney perhaps the Blues' standout performer" on Delaney in the Reading game. Which I did not see, but that is the second "better" performance form him. Both at centre back. I take back my earlier criticism, played in position he may turn out good.
I'd say Edwards, Leadbitter and Rosenior have all improved our team. As has Begovic.
Keanos signings are better than Magiltons. IMHO

Look at the decent championship level players in our squad:

Rosenior,Bruce,Macauley,D.Wright,Balkestein,Delaney,Thatcher;
Leadbitter,Walters,Edwards,Martin,Garvan,Peters (Norris,Civelli)
Counago,Stead,Priskin,Wickham.

..and we're 23rd in the table...any half-decent manager would have us in the top 10 at the very least.

The job Ian Holloway is doing at Blackpool puts us to shame and I bet Magilton's wondering what the hell he did that was so wrong.

Its not the Garvan worshipping that needs to stop its the blind Keane worship !! We are stiil in the relegation positions are playing awful dull football,cannot pass or keep the ball and are a far worse side than last year . At the start of the season we blamed the defence,then it was the goakeeper,last few weeks it was the strikers turn now unsuprisingly it is the midfield !!! Any one who has played or knows anything about football can see we are missing a passing midfielder as every team has more possession than us , and bedsitfc Garvan could take us up this league easily along with Counago if they are played which is definately where i want to go . We have no class or vision without them and if Keane cannot see that we will be relegated !!!

Can somebody tell me what is wrong??????. Going through the other managers, like for example Holloway, Malky Mckay, Paulo Souso ,Nigel Pearson, Billie Davies, even Plymouth are on the way up since the introduction of Mariner, also not forgetting Aidy Boothroyd and Paul Lambert, they are all doing very well, with very little money.So I will say again what are we doing wrong ???????
