Priskin Has No Plans to Leave Tuesday, 5th Jan 2010 09:37
Town frontman Tamás Priskin has told the Hungarian press that he has no plans to leave the Blues during the transfer window. Reports over the weekend claimed that Town would look to sell Priskin and Pablo Couñago to raise cash in order to sign Derby striker Rob Hulse.
Priskin says this is news to him: "I’ve only seen this in the press and if it’s up to me, I'm not going anywhere.”
The Hungarian international admits the season hasn’t gone to plan so far but will be looking to remedy this in the months to come: “While at Watford last season I started more than 30 times, at Ipswich I’ve started only nine, but I work hard to change this. "
Priskin, who joined the Blues from Watford for £1.7 million in the summer, signing a contract until 2012, says that despite his lack of opportunities there has been no fallout with manager Roy Keane: "It is normal player-manager relationship with us."
The 23-year-old has scored only twice this season, in the Carling Cup at Peterborough in August and at Doncaster in the league. His last appearance was as a sub in the home league game against Peterborough last month with his most recent start at Cardiff at the end of November.

Good to see he wants to work hard to change his situation but I don't see that happening. This is a results business and Keane has to play the players likliest to get the best results. Mr. Priskin at present is not one of them

Priskin should stay. He hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip. His record at Watford says it all. KEEP HIM (and play him!).

Would be nice if he scored some goals, tho.

I'm pleased to hear this. I think he has all the attributes to be a top class striker. Needs to get his confidence back & certainly doesn't need the fans on his back at Portman Road, although agree that he needs to put in more effort. That again I am sure is down to a lack of confidence. Now is the time to give him another chance while Stead is unavailable.

Don't just say it..just do it. Pablo, pull your finger out in front of goal!

Hes been poor for us, not taken easy chances and very lazy. Pablo has not been given a run in the team as Keane clearly wants rid of him. I expect both to go.

His work rate in some games has been poor. I appreciate that his game is about skill, timing and finishing rather than running around chasing lost causes but his apparent lack of effort when he came on for the last 20 minutes against Peterborough was appalling. Despite this though he's still young, he has got a lot of skill and ability and has a good goalscoring record at Championship and international level. His signing was the one that really excited me in the summer. I still believe he'll come good for us and prove to be the solution to the lack of goals scored from the numerous chances created. He is obviously lacking in confidence at the moment. It's a shame he wasn't on the bench against QPR because half an hour against their defence in a team playing well when they were pushing forward would have done him the world of good.

I have know doubt that when we have a strong midfield of a fully fit Norris, Leadbitter, Walters and Garvan (Poss Civelli and Edwards) providing back up he will do very well for us. Priskin mainly played when we had a poorly performing defence and the midfield wasnt as strong. Positive outlook for 2010!!

Agree Marshalls mullet, i've said the same on here before, I think he needs a good supply which our midfield are now producing. he's a great finisher, just needs some confidence & the crowd to get behind him - COYB

It would be nice to see him given a chance in a side playing well, rather than the ramshackle collection of disenchanted strangers that we seemed to be for the first third of the season.

joe royle signed Parkin for less than half the money paid for Priskin ,yet was absolutely slaughtered by a section of supporters for it ,even though Parkin did get a few goals,so because Priskin is a Keane signing we can conveniently ignore it,i think we must have quite a few star struck supporters out there.

He's a proven international and goalscorer and has not become a bad player overnight. It's good to see a fair number of posts wanting to give Tamas a chance, with improved confidence and in an improved Ipswich team he'll get us goals. I trust Keano's judgement and he'll bring him in when the times right, talk of selling him is far too premature and it's good to hear that he wants to stay and fight for his place. The last time we heard this talk it came from Garvan and his recent form has been as good as signing a 2m player.

refer to blueoveru comments - I think Sam Parkin would have done well for us, but for the fact that the home crowd got on his back. I never really knew why, because he was a natural finisher. Maybe it was his silly haircut. He then got injured, & has been a "sicknote" ever since.

Blueoveru; Get a grip, your comment re the Joe Royle era is not relevant to the discussion.

Muhrensleftfoot; I actually agree with your comment re the daft haircut... made him an easy figure of fun.

So Rob Hulse is worth Priskin & Counago. I don't think so !

I, for one, really hope he kicks on.......I was really pleased with the signing, I'm sure he can come good.

Marshallsmullet are you talking about the start of the season when Roy dropped Mac and Wright from defence our best defenders from last year played Delaney at left back ,made Bruce our captain, then repeatedly picked Trotter,Healy and Martin in midfield above Garvan our top scoring and most creative midfielder from last season ? If so you are correct Priskin hasnt been given a run in a good side but whose fault is that ? For me Roy has spent 8 million on attacking midfielders/wingers and a striker and between them have scored 4 goals and maybe 6 assists less than Stead and Garvan together who were reportedly told they would never play again and isolated for a long time .

I so hope he comes good, the stick I get for supporting him in Bobby's Yard is ridiculou sand I hope I can shove it back in mosts face when he does come good, come on Tamas! If Pablo goes, it will be a terrible decision, most skillful player we have.
Marshalls_Mullet added 11:41 - Jan 5
Surco72 - Im not saying Keano didnt make bad decisions at the start of the season, my point was not about Keane, but about Priskin. We are now in 2010, the current team and form is what is now relevant, and I think Priskin will do a good job if recalled... a la D Wright and Owen Garvan, and to an extent John Stead.

WarkonWater added 12:45 - Jan 5
Rob Hulse - maybe, but only if he came dirt cheap Pablo Counago - overrated and part of the stack of dead wood at the club so he should go as he's a big wage earner Tamas Priskin - give the boy more of a chance. He was in the team when we were playing our worst football. An extended run might bring out the ability he obviously has. Remember, he's an Hungarian international and they're no mugs.
