Healy's Falkirk Move Confirmed Wednesday, 13th Jan 2010 14:03
Falkirk have confirmed that Town midfielder Colin Healy has joined them on loan until the end of the season. The ex-Cork City man underwent a medical this morning and is set to make his debut against his former club Celtic at the weekend.
Falkirk manager Eddie May said:“It has been well documented that I want to add a midfield player and a forward to the squad during the January transfer window and Colin was my first choice midfield player.
“We have been working tremendously hard to secure this one as there were a number of other clubs interested in signing Colin — I spoke with him last week at length and outlined my vision for him at Falkirk Football Club.
“He is a player of outstanding ability and perhaps more importantly is renowned for his determination and winning mentality. You do not earn 13 caps for the Republic of Ireland, as Colin has, without having considerable quality and a real desire.
“Slowly but surely we are creating an environment at this club which demands that we get success, the club and the fans demand that, and Colin will assist us in this area.”
Healy, 29, has made only five appearances for the Blues since joining the club from Cork City in the summer, signing a two-year deal.

Good luck Colin. A £75.000 gamble that just didnt pay off, perhaps the Falkirk fans will have more patience with you than some of our so-called fans. Probably be made permanent in the summer,if not perhaps it will work out for you on your return, what with a bit of match fitness and confidence under your belt.

Our fans never gave him a chance and I for one think he is a very good footballer. At Shewsbury he was outstanding and never wasted a ball and at Palace he more than held his own in an unfamiliar role - perhaps never going to be a regular but a very good player easily in front of the likes of Trotter and I hope he does well.

Slowtractorboy .. it doesnt matter whether the fans gave him a chance or not Keane picks the team and he obviously doesnt think he is good enough now after seeing him up close which is why he is he is being shipped out ,like Trotter. And the same reason why Martin and Priskin are not getting a look in on matchdays

29 year olds don't get better with age. Not up to it at this level. Let's get him off the wage bill & hope some other club decide to bail out Cork Rovers with a charity buy next year!

If I was Marcus, I'd be quite peeved that one of my employees had wasted £75k of my cash, just to help out some old friends

byebyesheepshanks i assume you are putting the "bail out Cork" thing as a joke?! You must be because we weren't doing that in the slightest. We matched Hartlepool's bid for Healy, but he decided to come to us! If Keane wanted to help out Cork that much he would have bid more. As I've been saying on here for a few days (to much negativity from most members) Healy was never given a chance. A cheap gamble which would have been hailed as a major coup if it had worked out. If hasn't, but still might. But he is in no way as bad as some people have said. He has a strong reputation in the game and seems composed and calm on the ball. The mentality of some fans (re: Healy, Trotter, Wright, Keane) is really upsetting and pretty naive. Best of luck Colin, I hope it works out for you.

Perhaps he was not given a chance but with the likes of Garvan, Martin, Quinn and others not playing regularly this has got to make sense. It seems as if Norris and Leadbitter are certainties (and rightly so in my view) with a mix of others including Walters (who I think Keane sees as the front man target man, rather than a right midfield), for me although he was anonymous there against palace away Garvans passing should see him on the left and he should make that position his own. As for the right hand side my view is Walters has done the best job of that and we have cover with Edwards (expensive cover!!!) Martin (equally expensive cover!!) and Quinn. Sorry I saw 3 of his 4 matches and yes he did play well at Shrewsbury when even with a team of youngsters we made hard work of it, however, that makes me feel even more he is suited to league one or two. Thanks Colin and all the best. Here is to 3 points against Cov. Up the town Splitnote

Agree with injured. Good luck to the boy. I have said on many occasions, this was a gamble which most on here backed, it didn't work. End of story!
