Keane: No Rosenior Contract Talks Yet
Keane: No Rosenior Contract Talks Yet
Tuesday, 26th Jan 2010 13:13

Town boss Roy Keane says the club are yet to begin talks with full-back Liam Rosenior regarding a permanent deal with the Blues. The 25-year-old is on loan from Reading until the end of the season with his Royals contract up in the summer.

Keane said: “We’ll have a look at it over the next month or two. It’s still January, there’s still a long way to go in the season.

“I know the media is interested in certain players regarding their contract situations. Let Liam focus on his game and the contract situation will take care of itself. You don’t need to remind me, I’m well aware of it.”

Rosenior has previously said he is enjoying his football at Town, while Keane has praised the former Fulham man’s impact since he joined the club in August.

Elsewhere, former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos’s loan move from Tottenham to Galatasaray is reportedly close to being finalised. Town boss Roy Keane recently ruled out the Mexican international returning to Portman Road.

Meanwhile, ex-Blues defender Drissa Diallo has announced his retirement from football at the age of 37. The Guinea international has been with Cheltenham for the last 16 months, having had spells at Sheffield Wednesday and the MK Dons since leaving Portman Road in 2005 after a two-year spell.

Diallo says he is returning to France, where he was brought up: "I've been thinking about what I'm going to do after football for a few years and now maybe the time is right to do something else.

"It's been a long journey for me because I first left home to play professionally in 1992 and I have been very lucky to play for as long as I have.

"I am going back to France next month and I will be very busy with starting a new business and renovating my house so will not have much time for football. But I would like to stay involved in football and maybe I will play part-time next season in France."

I for one hope that Rosenoir will get a contract and Reading don't want anything for him!

owenitfc - Reading might want something for him but they won't get anything as he is over 24 and out of contract in the summer. Please refer to the John Bosman ruling for further reading.

He's got a new manager back at his actual club now, so I am sure Reading might have a say in whether he signs perm for us or not.

what i meant cardinals.. is that i really rate him and as he's going to cost nothing we'd be stupid not to give him a contract.

wallingford_boy..... not only is it dissapointing you dont know about the players playing for the club associated with this fanzine and i assume the club you support is the same one... but it is more disapointing that u havnt read the comments previous to yours about the player in question being out of contract in the summer making it none of readings buisness. It is also worth noting he has been treated awfully at reading and the fans seem not to like him so unless they get promoted i doubt he would be interested.

I think he will sign for us in time, maybe not until March/April time though.....Keane wants him, Liam loves playing here, so i think it is a done deal.

Wish we could get a hungry striker in.....Preston capturing Welbeck this week, that is the kind of signing we need. I know Darren Ferguson was helped with his dad owing the player and also with Preston being on his doorstep but i bet this lad will hit at least 10 goals before the season is out....
We have Arsenal on our doorstep, like Benik Afobe....kid who scores for fun, or at West Ham Zavon Hines...

I thinky you'll find with the Wellbeck loan it really was a case of Dad and Son, after all Furgey Snr did refuse to let Wellbeck join peterborough and there reason was that they didn't want him going to a championship team.

But seriously guys, do we really really need a striker? most succesful teams have a team that scores goals and not just their strikers, yes it helps but ill be happy with Stead getting 15 goals with the midfield scoring 3-4 each, with a few goals for the defenders. What we dont want is to panic buy.

we need to get him in, ive never seen a player on loan whos as commited as Rosenior, his reaction when we score and at the end of games is top notch, his performances have been very good and he actually likes playing for the club, his reaction when we conceeded against coventry showed the disappointment he felt for the team at conceeding!! KEANO SIGN HIM UP,KEANO, KEANO SIGN HIM UP!!!

Until the ink is dry on any contract you can do all the talking you want and it means nothing. I think Keane is learnng to play his cards close to is chest which is a good thing. All too often in the past we have been linked to a player and it's either paper-talk or somebody else gets interested and pips us to it. Rosenior is at the club, knows the quality of the set-up, has a good relationnship with the fans and the manager has publicly said how pleased he has been with the lad! I don't think we could find a better right back (especially for nothing!). I reckon all the elements are in place for Rosenior to sign a pre-contract in the spring, just hope nobody else comes in for him offering bigger wages of greater potential for Premiership football

that is the main worry, Rosenior has the skill to play in most premier league sides and i doubt his performances are going unoticed, lets hope Keane can convince him to stay with us. I agree with what your saying about Keane playing his cards close to his chest, how many times has it happened where weve been linked with a player and everything looks fairly set for us to sign him and they go elsewhere?? too many is the answer!!!

***HANG ON A MINUTE!!!*** I think we are all missing the important stuff. Drissa retiring. You will be sorely missed. Oh no wait you were actually rubbish and probably should have retired years ago.

Drissa Diallo ladies and gentleman, proof that anything can happen ;-)

Please!
After last nights woeful performance perhaps you all want to rethink your "sign him up" strategy? He was bloody awful. Along with the others.

Liam can agree to a pre-contract here now, though he can change his mind and sign for someone else. Bit similar to the Jermaine Beckford to Everton story.
