Keane Angry After Defeat
Keane Angry After Defeat
Wednesday, 17th Mar 2010 00:22

Town boss Roy Keane left his players in no doubt about what he thought of the performance at Watford, keeping them in the dressing room for 90 minutes after the 2-1 defeat.

Keane felt his side started poorly and never recovered: “We kicked the ball out play after three seconds, and it set the tone for the night. We’ll need to spend hours and hours now on the training pitch just practising kick-offs. It’s unbelievable."

The Blues boss was less than impressed that his side only started to show any form in the second half and then gave away a second poor goal: "The game started at quarter to eight.

“We couldn’t have been any worse in the second half, and we got ourselves back in the game, but we gave another bad goal away and shot ourselves in the foot.

“I freshened things up with one or two players coming in, but they didn’t give us the freshness we were hoping for. They say don’t change a winning team, and it could be true. You can bet your life I’ll be making changes now though.”

Keane replaced Owen Garvan after only 22 minutes and said he might have made other early tactical substitutions: "There could have been more. I really believe Watford wanted it more and that is hard to stomach."

Watford boss Malky Mackay said winning goalscorer Will Hoskins has been pressing for a place in the side: "Will has been close to getting in the team in last couple of weeks.

"He's matured this season, he's had a child with his partner and settled down. He's undoubtedly talented but it's also about workrate and we have seen that recently - I'm delighted for him.

“We had a lot of possession in the first half and it could have been two or three, so I was disappointed when their goal went in, but I had no doubt that they had the character to go on and win it.”

Roy after watching that tonight all i can say is WHY change a winning side and can i have my £25 back!!?? we have no pace down either wing, Walters for me has been sooo disappointing this season! we give the ball away to easily and we lacked passion! Watford are poor what does that really say about us!!??

We lack a leader on the pitch.

Hmm I was at the game and Curbishley was watching ...
Too many players seem to be under performing and I think at this seasons end afew people may well be on their way - alot of loanees remember
Anyone can get a team mid table in the championship ?- who said that ?
Oh and another of his 'quotes'
Fail to Prepare ...Prepare to fail ...Yes Roy
What they do on the training ground is beyond me cos we have no real pattern to our play
Oh and Lee Martin !!!!!! great signing Roy
I cannot wait to see the team sheet for next game !!
Wright and Norris have to be in

keane you should be angry at yourself, YES you don't change a winning team, and taking garvan off after 22 minutes?! Thats not on, even if we had been poor at the start you don't do that. I know wickham got the quality winner on saturday and probably deserved it buy he shouldn't have started, and taking him and murphy off for pablo and healy was a joke! Brilliant, that 8ft centre back taylor was having a field day after they went off, no compettition for him and healy was generally inefective anyway, he was awful in fact, he adds nothing. Pablo should have won it, but atleast he was there with a shot on goal but my point is you cant play the last 15 minutes losing 2-1 with a strikeforce of healy and pablo becuase of what they have been recently, not good enough in terms of goal, especially healy, atleast pablo makes things happen, whether it be a superb through ball, litle flick or a simple pass, he does it but i dont understand what healy adds to the team, that chance he had on saturday summed him up so far, everything ive already said, AND he cant finish!
KEANE OUT, very poor.

I was there with my enthusiasm and big coat and looking forward to ending our Watford hoodoo after two wins.

I was surprised at the changes - putting two big lads up against their barn-door centrebacks was fighting fire with slightly smaller fire, should have kept with Pablo to draw the free kicks and thread balls through.

What really upset me though was the humiliating hauling off of Garvan - (a) this will ride a coach and horses through the confidence of our only playmaker and (b) the immediate effect on the team was obvious, they froze with fear for the rest of the first half.

I don't want Keane out, but he must learn more strings to his bow than just terrorising players, or we'll never unlock, relax and beat teams in the way we all know we can.

Pray that the lads keep losing, it's the only way they know to get rid of the Manager. It worked well with the last one but they slipped up badly against Scunthorpe when Connor forgot he was supposed to miss the target. Keane is a bully and the entire club is in fear of him. You can't motivate people like that. Garvan is a proud and immensely talented young player who has already been abused and won't take any more. He'll be off as quickly as he can and the heart of the team goes with him.

I'd have subbed Rosenior after 10, he was dreadful

I like him as a player but he really had an off night!

Martin was a dreadful sub, we needed somone like Norris to come on for him and switch Colback to the left wing

Walters had a shocker and was marked out of the game by Doyley. I'd have got Edwards or Peters on.

Murphy had a really bad game also but I'd have kept him or Wickham on to maintain our physical presence.

Keane got the subs wrong, I just wonder whether this fixture catalogue caught up with us tonite because Watford were nothing special, clearly there for the taking and yet we put that performance in!

Bit disappointed he didn't acknowledge the Town fans coming down in good numbers and supporting the players noisely throughout the game

That was diabolical tonight. Infact it was the first time in almost 2 decades of following town I've left early. In fact the Maccy Ds I got whilst waiting for the bus back home was better than the match. No passion, no desire, no ability.

Walters, Martin, Rosenior, Colback, O'connor and Murphy deserve to be torn a new one after that debacle.

I don't think Colback was that bad, he looked about the only player putting in the effort required to get us a goal

No suprise he scored our goal, his drive and energy was refreshing in a very tired and uninspired looking team tonite.

No point in keeping the players in the dressing room for 90 mins RK ! Your rants about practising kick offs sums you up ! You are NOT the right man to manage the club . A year in charge and still floundering . Please go so ITFC can get a manager who will bring calmness, consistency and respect back to ITFC.

How is Lee Martin getting off so lightly? If he wants to wear the shirt, he should have to buy one from the club shop like the rest of us because he's got no business being a professional footballer. There should be no place at this club for prima donna no-trick ponies.

Yes, Rosenior and a few others were poor last night but most of the culprits have been solid and hardworking for most of the season. The real problem was that we were tactically inept. Why wouldn't we want to bang long balls down the middle onto the head of a 6'4" centre-half for 90 minutes? That responsibility has to lie with the manager somewhere down the line. I'm not a member of the 'Keane out' brigade but that was inexcusable.

I will accept cash, cheques and Paypal when the club gets round to issuing refunds for us having to endure that dross without a drop of alcohol (thanks for that, Watford Council).

Was d wright injured? And was garvan injured to get subbed?

I really don't think Keane should have made an example of Garvan like that last night, there were 11 players on the pitch looking disapointing, why pick on him! Poor guy, there is only one thing more humiliating than being subbed after 20 with no injury and thats getting subbed after coming on as a sub!

It was a shame last night but i think we have too put concerns about Keane out of the way for a while and concentrate on getting behind the lads for the next game, if we pick up 3 points on saturday that will be 9 out of 12 and thats ok in any teams book.

Hope you come back fighting Garvan, Keane sort yourself out please!!!!

COYB!!!!! Get back on track.

RK must accept his part in this defeat. Don't change a winning team. Leadbitter, Rosenior & Wickham should have been on the bench. Lee Martin doesn't even warrant a place on the bench, RKs mate Ole Gunnar Sols... recommended a dud, so may as well get rid and put it down to experience

That was a definite 6 pointer which WE LOST !!!. We have got to be more alert on the next 2 games, Barnsley a team on form, and also Plymouth on form as well. Our form is so up and down, we never know where we stand.
AGREE with other posts Walters needs resting, he runs around a lot but creates NOTHING, watched him time and time again, and cannot justify why he is captain.
Sorry for being a pessimist but it is worrying times !!!!!!!

Typical .... one defeat and all the Keane outers come out on cue! Disappointing yes, frustrating yes, annoying also yes. But it is only ONE defeat, get a grip! A win on Saturday and all will be quiet again no doubt. Mental1 puts it well about 9/12.

And Barnesey .... I really hope you are joking mate. No real fan would want us to lose just to get rid of the manager.

Come on lads, let's do the Tykes on Saturday .... COYB!!!

Just read Marcus Evans is funding this club from his other companies, my god we would be in the mire without him.
So it proves our outgoings are more than our income, we are living beyond our means !!!!!!!!!!

Unreal, one defeat and the Keane outers are back again, not heard from them during those two wins, how fickle can you be??

Minor setback boys, if you check the league table weve hardly lost any ground on the teams above us and i believe we're the same amount of points from the relegation zone!!! most of the people who have commented on here were loving it when we beat Cardiff and Scunny and loving Keano and now once again im seeing Keane out, its getting tiresome, next 2 home games are important now lets just get behind the team and get 6 points on the board!!! COYB

i was about to report Peterson for abuse, but someone has already seen to it...
everyone has off nights, and Keane has a 'strong' management style, but I fully expect to see 100% commitment from the team on Saturday as a result of RK's passion
how I hate the vultures who come onto this site in their droves as soon as we slip up
come on the town!
