Rosenior Happy to Keep Options Open Friday, 7th May 2010 16:08
Departing loan full-back Liam Rosenior says he may not have signed a contract with the Blues even if he had been offered one. The 24-year-old, whose Reading contract is up at the end of June, decided not to sign a permanent deal with Town when he joined the club last summer in order to keep his options open.
Rosenior, who says he is interesting an overseas side which has qualified for the Champions League, says he’d ideally like to find a top flight club: “The Premier League is where I want to be and I think I’m good enough having played there before.
“There is interest, but if not it looks as though there will be good opportunities for me abroad.
“I came to Ipswich to get them into the top flight, but as it didn’t happen there is no certainty I would have signed a new contract if offered one.”
Rosenior felt he did well in his 28 starts and three sub appearances while with Town, scoring one goal, with the exception of the Watford match: “Before the game at Vicarage Road I was being sick and I can’t think of another off day that I had.”
The former England U21 international, who said he enjoyed his time in Suffolk, is confident that manager Roy Keane will get things right at Portman Road: “After the first three months we showed play-off form so something was being done right — and with the players the manager has got it will only get better.”

Now can people finally understand why he was dropped? Not the fact that D.Wright was better but the fact Liam didn't care!!

I'm sorry but am I cynical in thinking that this is a case of; "well I didn't really want to play for u anyway so not offering me a contract doesn't matter" when really he would have liked one and thought he was getting one (which up until the first half of the season he probably was!)

Mickey i think your wrong, i think he expected to get promoted with town and in to the top flight once we got to october he realised we weren't and then stopped playing. Even thoguht we were bad up till that point he was actually very good and one of the diamonds along side Leadbitter, but suddenly it all went to pan.

I agree with the point he was good then gave up. Shame because I thought he had promise.

This is all rather disappointing and does sound like sour grapes. I thought that he was a breath of fresh air when he came to the club and his link up with Edwards looked really promising. There may well be more than meets the eye on this story perhaps he had some kind of fall out with RK.

another player who all he cares about is himself and soon as he knew we werent going up he didnt care!! He thinks he is better than he is and personally now i'm glad he wasnt offered a contract. you want people in your team to play well all the time and give their all no matter the circumstances. Imagine if we had got relegated cos someone like him stopped playing! No wonder reading fans didnt like him!! (he was awsome away against)

im disappointed that Rosenior seemed to tale off as in the the early part of the season he was one of our big plus points, against watford he was 1 of a host of poor performers on the night and for whatever reason didn't feature much from that point onwards, he's probably now saying that there was no gurantee that he would have signed for us if offered a contract, just purely coz he hasn't been offered 1 sort of thing. Earlier in the season he would have signed for us hands down if we offered him a contract, now we haven't, he says he might not have signed one anyway

i am glad in a weird way we didnt get promoted as he would have signed if we offered him one, and i dont want that sort of player at town

lol agree now? lol Just seems that after the terrible start we had, he knew he wouldnt be going up with town so why the need to try? Same with Murphy i think, when he joined i think he actually thought we might get someone near the play offs, once that dream was over, he stopped trying.

obviously a mercenary and too outspoken for his own good considering he's not really that good! no sadness for me that he's not signing and if he ever plays champions league football ill eat my hat!

Talk about over-inflated opinion of himself! Fulham were in the Premiership and released him because he wasn't good enough - now neither Ipswich nor Reading - two mid table Championship teams - want him either. And yet he still thinks he belongs in the Premiership? This country.

so you think that murphy (or anyone for that matter) actually thought we were going to get to the playoffs at the end on january?!

he does seem a bit bigheaded tho :( i like him but 'The Premier League is where I want to be and I think I'm good enough having played there before' That doesnt mean sh*t

his falling out of favour (allegedly) has nothing to do with him falling foul of the law then.....

Ha ha Champions League? Don't make me laugh! He made more basic mistakes than anybody at the back this season. Jamie Peters is a better RB anyway.

Liam started well and looked like a decent RK signing. By no means a bad player - pretty good going forward, but not as strong at defending. I bet he is also on mega money at Reading (being as heplayed in the Premiership). So all in all a good decision not to offer a contract.

He was dropped after Watford and now it transpires he was ill. Maybe RK should've bared that in mind and given him another chance coz he was good up to then. I don't buy the theory that he stopped trying coz we couldn't go up. That's just nonsense. He may well have stopped trying so hard in training due to being unhappy at being dropped. Keane has a big thing about players that train well. But in matches he never looked like he wasn't trying to me. I think it's a combintion of poor man-management on keane's part and big-headedness on Rosenior's.

You have a few options Liam, league 1 or head to scotland cause on your showing your certainly not good enough for the championship or the prem as you proved at Reading who let you go.Sour grapes and looks like you need to grow up.YOU WERE RUBBISH MATE
