Lisbie Unclear on Future Monday, 10th May 2010 12:24
Striker Kevin Lisbie says he has no idea what his future holds after completing his season-long loan at Colchester United. The 31-year-old, who netted 13 goals during 2009/10, has another year remaining on his Town contract but says he would like to remain with the U’s.
Lisbie, who joined Town from Colchester for £750,000 in the summer of 2008, said: “I haven't got a clue what the future holds. I will have to wait for a call in the summer and see what happens.
“I would like to stay here but the gaffer has got his budget but we'll have to wait and see.
“I've always had a special relationship with the U's fans. It's probably more special than the one I had at Charlton, where I had nine years. Even if I'm not here next season, I'll definitely come back and see the lads.”
Millwall and Southampton were both interested in Lisbie in January, the Saints subsequently signing Lee Barnard from Southend, and other sides at League One and Championship level may also be keen on signing the ex-Jamaica international over the summer.
Town boss Roy Keane fielded the frontman in his first two games in charge of the Blues at the end of 2008/09 but was less than impressed with the frontman wanting to continue to live in the London area rather than closer to the club and sent him on loan for the season.
Meanwhile, former Blue James Scowcroft has been released by League One Leyton Orient after failing to score in 16 starts and 14 sub appearances in one season at Brisbane Road.
Elsewhere, midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski is on trial at Leeds United after having his contract at Preston North End settled. The Macedonian joined the Lilywhites from Town for £400,000 last summer, but wasn't involved with the Lancastrians after Darren Ferguson took over as manager.

Safe to say he was never one of our greatest signings! Hopefully we can recoup a minimal fee for him in the summer.

Scowcroft has been released by Leyton Orient? Blimey, he must really have slipped. From Premiership regular to division three reject?

I'm always sad to see the stories of Veliche's decline. I remember his home debut when he seemed like a dream signing–a tough defensive midfielder who broke up every opposition attack and got forward to score a superb goal. Unfortunately, that was his best performance in a Town shirt.

If lisbie comes back then thats it, i'll actually sell my season ticket!!! No, infact i'll give it away. never saw the point in signing him in the first place, if we sell him to Colchester than we can put the money towards some nice beer mates in the legends bar, not a bad way of spending 50 quid.....lol

That sums Lisbie up "I will have to wait for a call in the summer". If it was my future that was uncertain I would be breaking my bosses door down to get it sorted, not moping about at home waiting for things to come to me. He's a lazy g*t. get rid as soon as!

Kev, you don't know what the future holds??? Your Ipswich career is over mate. Either you will be sold for a discounted price or you will stagnate in the stiffs. You could alsways bide your time until Keane is pushed/walks and you may get a few more games. Next question Kev?

A bit of advice for you Lisbie... crawl back under the stone you came from.

Lisbie - Magilton's worst signing in hindsight. I think Jim just could not get the strikers he wanted and needed someone for that position, so opted for Lisbie after he has scored goals the season before. What a mistake! Still, at least he was around £1M cheaper than Priskin who flopped in a similar way. Shumi - Looked promising and I felt we let him go without replacing his position last summer. Looks like we were right to sell him, but we should have replaced him before the season started in my opinion.

I think Lisbie's problem, apart from the bad attitude he seems to have, is he think his wages should be much more than everybody else does. If he was that desperate to stay at Col Who, then surely he would take a lower wage and just perhaps they might be able to afford him wages and fee included. I would not be surprised however if he prices himself out of a move and rots in our reserves or is loaned out again. He is in for a big dose of reality once he leaves ITFC because he just isnt good enough to get a contract on the wages he is on now, unless Jim gets another managers job i guess!!

People have the nerve to moan about Roy's signings! Lisbie is simply abysmal - as for shumi, well many slated Roy for selling him - yet PNE settle his contract. One of Jim's signings I believe? Not much from the anti Roy boys on this article. Sums it up.

lisbie future is not unclear as far as itfc are concerned - its not at portman road as regards to him finding his level at colchester, he must be living a dream they can do a lot better than signing him

Dont know why Lisbie ever came to Ipswich, apart from the wages! He never played with any heart and always appeared disinterested and lazy. If he loves Col Utd so much, he should do the decent thing by them and take an appropriate wage cut.
