Former Blues boss George Burley will be unveiled as the new manager of Crystal Palace on Thursday. Burley has been out of work since leaving his job as manager of Scotland last November.

Burley, who managed Town between 1994 and 2002, has also taken control of Southampton, Derby and Hearts since leaving Portman Road.

Good luck GB!

All the best GB, all of a sudden Palace are my second favourite team. A man with a bit of dignity...oh if only our current manager could get a team to be sucessful with little in the way of funds but more than a little style.

All the best for the most successful ITFC manager in the recent years and to one of the most successful Town players too under Sir Bobby!

Good luck George, I bet you any money he will do great with them. He was an amazing manager when he had no money to play with. Perfect appointment for Palace.

I wish you well George. You are a town legend and always will be, you gave us some of the best highs and some of the worst lows.

I just have to add though, yes he did a great job for us but apart from us what else has he achieved?

Our manager now is Roy keane and to say you will sing Burleys name louder than Keanes is pathetic, go and support Palace then. I support Ipswich and I appreciate past heros but that's what they are in the past. Living there isn;t going to get us pormoted now.

Just stay off the bottle George and you should do alright at Palace.

I agree with brockley, Ipswich Legend yes, but his managerial record hasnt been fantastic has it? He hasnt really stayed anywhere much longer than a year (apart from us) since he left. Not completey sold on him, but as most fans on here, they always look at things through rose tinted glasses

Good Luck George ...

Brockleyblue check facts before commenting Burley took over at relegation threatened Derby saved them and took them to the playoffs the following year ,took Southampton to the playoffs whilst selling his good players and had unfancied Hearts at the top of the scottish league with their best start in the history of the club before he was sacked when new owners took over and wanted a russian manager .Throw in manager of the year for us in the premiership .Seems a great record on limited resources compared to Roy Keanes but as Hype 313 says some people look at things through rose tinted glasses

Good luck GB. Big boost to Palaces chances of being at the right end of the table. Will quite rightly justify a good reception at PR when he returns.

Surco72, you took the words from mouth. Apart from his record with Scotland (and even that you could argue wasn't helped at all by many undisciplined players) has been very good. Keane has a long way to go in Management before he can clean Burleys boots. I would certainly have been alot more optimistic towards a good season with attractive football under GB than under another season with Keane.
With July fast approaching and no signings I am starting to think that he has learnt very little from last season! I hope I'm wrong and he does well but the signs IMO are not great.

About time too!! All the managerial names constantly linked with jobs these days and George SEEMS very rarely to be in the frame, despite his undoubted skills and talents. Good luck George (except in two - maybe more - matches of course!)!!

Gutted...he should be back at ITFC where he rightly belongs instead of the miserable plonker we're stuck with.

Good luck George!
