Fülöp Move Edging Closer
Fülöp Move Edging Closer

Town are close to completing their £750,000 move for Sunderland keeper Márton Fülöp, according to reports on Wearside. On Wednesday, Blues boss Roy Keane said he expected to know whether or not the deal would be done within 48 hours.

Fülöp is keen on a move to Portman Road in order to play first team football, but it is likely that the 27-year-old will have to take a pay-cut to make the switch, while the Black Cats may have to come to some settlement on the remaining year of the Hungarian international’s Stadium of Light contract.

According to the reports, all parties are now closer to an agreement and the deal now looks more likely to be completed than it did earlier in the week.

Fülöp is understood to have turned down newly-promoted La Liga side Hercules, while Anderlecht, Olympiakos and two unnamed Premier League sides have also been linked.

You can't just say that footballers are greedy....
If any of us had the chance for more money then we'd take it and if you say you wouldn't then wow never thought id be talking to millionairs on here.
if he wants to come then he'll come end of.....
same as any player and personally i don't blame anyone for holding out for all they can get..

I think we need strikers considering we cant actually score goals and wickham is injured 4 the start of the season but this should still be a good signing and hopefully get chopra aswell :)

robdaful -- yeah going to west ham & tottenham game but p*ssed off that its gonna cost £50 for me and my boy to get in for both games.
I mean If you`ve committed yourself to a season ticket like we have it should be half price if not free to get in.
i am looking forward to season but its more at moment the father and son bonding thing about going to footy.

So Murphy is not good enough, neither is ALB as I assume Fulop would only be moving here if he is certain of a first team place....both of our current senior keepers were keanes signings..I agree they are only average, but why sign them if thats the case?

David James has signed for Bristol City on a free! As he was linked with Sunderland, does this mean that Fülöp may NOT be coming now ...?

Yea, I just saw that James has signed for Bristol City. More to the point, how did we miss out on him?!
Bristol don't have that much money, we could have easily got him! Still a great keeper with a couple of years left in him!

I care so little about this it's unbelievable.

Yes, he's better than Murphy (I expect, but not by a lot) but I doubt he's better than Wright (fans with no memory, please ignore the 3 bad games he had last season and remember the 3 MOTMs he got and the player of the season award the previous year before making some stupid comments). I doubt he's on less wages and we certainly don't three feckin' keepers at the club.

So far we've signed a left-back we didn't really need, replacing the very dependable (and more versatile) D. Wright. Woo hooo! And that's about it.

Couldn't be more pessimisstic about this season if I tried. My only saving grace is that it can only be better than I imagine, rather than a million times worse - as last season was.

Hmm, I'm in a good mood today aren't it?

A good signing - but we need a striker!

Gypo - yeah I feel your pain. After buying a season ticket we should get a better discount. But I thought that the prices were over inflated seeing that its just a friendly.
Hopefully our money will be going towards better players.
Fulop and Chopra.

Fulop probably is better than Murphy and may be a good signing IF the fee is £750K (not loads of extras taking the price up) and IF we can still afford the right-back and the attacking players we need. If the money spent on Fulop restricts us in buying the strikers we need, then it is crazy.

So what about Murphy then? He surely won't be happy being in the reserves. Keane said he rated Murphy highly and thought he would become the Ireland national goalkeeper. Has he changed his mind? Will we now have to try to move out Murphy? If we keep him, we'll have FOUR goalkeepers with Lee-Barrett and McLoughlan.

Great business if its finally done... A better keeper than we have at present. And isn't it refreshing to see a player willing to drop a division and wages to get first team football. Pity their aren't more like him... (Maybe even the odd current Ipswich player who RK wants out spring to mind)

Decent signing, if it goes through.
He's obvioulsy coming in as number one, which, makes me feel quite sorry for B.Murphy, because I dont think he's done too much wrong.

A strong back 5 we could be having next year too, Fulop, Kennedy, Macca, Delaney and Peters. Hopefully Fulop can make his "best friend" Priskin settle in, and maybe his performances will improve, which will hopefully see goals as a result.

Now, just for Chopra, or any striker who will score 20+, and I think that should be it.

Keep it up Keano :)
