Walters Wants Town Exit
Walters Wants Town Exit
Sunday, 1st Aug 2010 09:13

Town captain Jon Walters is reported to have asked for a transfer. The 26-year-old has been tipped for a move away from Portman Road all summer with QPR and Stoke both linked.

The former Republic of Ireland B international, who played the full 90 minutes against West Ham yesterday, is said to have made the request but is yet to formally put it in writing.

A fortnight ago, QPR were reported to have had an offer turned down by the Blues. The fee was claimed to be £2.5 million, although more recent suggestions that the bid was just over £1 million appear more realistic.

Stoke have been eyeing the striker-turned-midfielder since 2008 and were again mentioned in connection with a move last week.

Walters joined the Blues from Chester City for a fee of £100,000 plus top-ups, which would ultimately take the deal to £200,000, in January 2007.

Meanwhile, Swansea sent a scout to watch the Blues take on West Ham at Portman Road yesterday. Swans manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be interested in Blues striker Tamás Priskin, who played under him at Watford. Rodgers is believed to have made a £400,000 initial offer to test the water.

Blues boss Roy Keane is not looking to sell Priskin and has been impressed with him in pre-season, even if the Hungarian international is yet to score.

Do not think there is any truth behind this story and well said stinkiusminkus and herman... to be honest i am excited about Luke Hyam as youth coming thru' and Connor when he is fit and supporting the blues thru and thru' whatever 11 Keano puts out, thats because i am a supporter rather than a moaner! support is a wonderful thing that breeds confidence and thats what our players need most of all.... not whingers.

If i remember rightly after Walters 1st season where he was electric there were constant rumours that, under Magilton, he wanted to leave to go back to the North West with his family. That season he was not the same player and last season he struggled to assert himself in one position although i realise that he was playing in a few for a variety of reasons. However, there is no faulting his comitment to the cause and if he does indeed want to return to the Norh West or play premiership football then good luck to him. I would imagine RK would be sorry to see his captain go but thats football/life. Blaming keane isnt the answer on this on I'm afraid

He has sadly been lacking in quality but always tries, almost too hard, if his heart isn't with Town let him go and offer more money to/for Chopra, Saturday showed what we all have known for years, we need a quality striker or two to convert the chances we make. Never forget his stunning performance against Bristol City at home, God how far away those days seem at the moment!!!

Seems as if ITFC will always be blessed with an unbelievable level of supporters that will literally be satified with whatever is served up - what happened to words such as pride, success, ambition, and wanting to return to former glory days?.

Sadly, some will still cough up, and accept WHATEVER - thankfully, some see it differently, and are not afraid to say so.

Been a good servant to the club but everyone has their price. Don't think he's been the same since his injury season before last. Still more then good enough for Championship.

If he goes - I stop going. I am sick of all these rumours, every year alike, this one gets rolled out. This is the very first time that instead of looking forward to the new season, i am absolutely bricking it.

The players we have got rid of, the uninspiring people we seem to have bought in, fill me with no confidence.

i just hope this is yet again a rumour. I do not want to see my favourite player going.
